Hello Moms!

I have some fun stuff to share with you this month! I am launching two new blogs to supplement FreelanceMom's website content.

The new FreelanceMom Blog will focus on current freelancing and home business news. And an Internet Marketing Blog for people who have a website and are interested in furthering their understanding of Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization.

I hope you'll check them both out and bookmark them ;-)

We also have a fun new FreelanceMom Community Map! I love the visual view of where we are all located and invite each of you to add yourself to it. It's a fun way to get to know eachother and network locally also. Thanks to forum member Debbi for suggesting it.

The forum has been especially busy this month with membership rising over 900! I'm thrilled to see some really useful conversations taking place there. If you haven't checked it out yet, please do. It's a friendly group of people there and everyone has different types of expertise and levels of experience. Come share your knowledge or ask for help with the next stages in your businesses development.

Now for good stuff...

P.S. There is still a free advertising opportunity on top of the forum for anyone who has made a hurricane relief donation. Please contact me if you are interested. The rotation will run until December. Any donation you have made to any of the natural disasters that have taken place recently count.

DID YOU KNOW?
Google is offering a referral program for Adsense and also FireFox.

The payout is terrific! If you refer a publisher to the adsense program, you will earn $100 after they earn their first $100. That happens quicker then you might think! I'm thrilled with it.

The FireFox payout is $1 for every person that downloads and installs the FireFox browser through your link.

I love an affiliate program that I can whole-heartedly endorse. I am a huge advocate of both Adsense and the FireFox browser personally, irregardless of if I'm paid!

HOME BUSINESS TIP

Having a website isn't enough.

A website is pretty much useless without traffic. Getting website traffic is hard work, but critical to your success. Networking and promoting your website is a terrific way to get quality leads to your site, but don't under estimate the power of search engine optimization.

Search engine traffic is free, plentiful and highly targeted! Here are some tips directly from Google. Read it over and consider what changes you could make to your site to make it more search engine friendly.

If your website is a cookie cutter template or you don't really have access to changing the content, you should strongly consider at least developing a separate landing page if not creating your own entire site.

I know it seems daunting, but it's absolutely essential to your success. So keep it in mind as you continue to develop your business and marketing plans.

Become a Storyteller Not an Advertiser and Watch Your Traffic Increase
By, Melody Spier

When you read the newspaper, do you read advertisements as closely as you read news stories? Do you believe advertising as readily as you believe news stories? I don’t and neither do most people I know.

Because we have advertising shoved at us from every angle we tend to ignore it, but we pay attention to news or public interest stories. Not only do we pay more attention, we also are more likely to believe news stories than your basic advertisements. When your news is published either online, on the radio, TV or in newspapers people automatically feel that since it’s being published it must be worthy information.

Ethics, Ethics, Ethics
By, Rosanna

It's something that you might not talk about often, but your work ethic tells your clients all about you everyday. By observing your performance, your clients are sure to learn plenty about your character. Their decision as to whether to continue a work relationship with you will depend greatly on what signals they pick up and how they interpret them. Try to see yourself through the eyes of your clients, and put your best professional foot forward.

As I am always saying, you want your clients to be comfortable with you. People buy from people- and that includes services! Anybody may be able to secure their first project with a client, but it's only your good character and work ethic that will encourage your client to use your services again. If you have demonstrated that you are a reputable professional, it is much easier to keep the clients you have- and build your client list further. A well done one-time project may lead to additional (and often steady) work.
