Blogs can be a powerful tool to building a home business if you use them smartly. In marketing always try to think how each activity you do can have mulltiple purposes. For example if you're going to write an article to promote your business. You can use it to get valuable links to your website. But you can also use the bio of the article to give away a free report that is geared toward the interest of those reading the article so you can build a list for the purpose of building a relationship with those people.
Here are just some of the valuable ways you can use a blog in a business. Try to make each action count in your business. If you write an entry in your blog, have at least one or preferably more definite purposes in mind.
Blogs build a community of like-minded people.
Blogs create social proof.
Blogs can be used to create scarcity.
Blogs are great for building events.
Blogs are natural places to tell stories.
Blogs are great for commitment.
Blogs build anticipation.
Blogs create interaction.
Blogs give you a place to tell a reason why.
Blogs give you authority.
Blogs can create controversy and also be interesting.
Let's expound on one of those concepts - Social Proof - If you like I can expound on more of these in a future thread.
Quite simply Social Proof is this, sales and marketing can essentially be reduced down to your customer being convinced that your product or service will give them the desired result.
The concept of “Social Proof” consists of directing all your marketing efforts into providing evidence that you or your product (whatever the case may be), definitely gives people the desired result they are looking for so even more people see your product as working and thus want it.
Another example of Social Proof is picture this: You’re in a big crowd of people heading to a baseball game. Here’s what happens – once the crowd starts heading in a certain direction you end up following as you just assume the crowd knows where they are going. So in marketing if you can get certain numbers of visible people buying your product or business others will follow along.
The biggest obstacle we face in attracting others to our business is getting past the skepticism of the person. For any number of reasons many people just don’t see themselves succeeding in their own business. Thus we want to provide Social Proof that people can succeed in our business.
In a future post I may show an example of exactly how I use a blog to create Social Proof.
