What are the current office skills you use for the home business right now? Some feedback on this would be appreciated as I am new to the working from home at the moment...

I think it would depend on the business. You may need to know invoicing and accounts receivable. You may need to know word processing. It all depends on what you are doing at home.

What do you exactly mean by office skills to be used at home? Does it relate to things like using a computer, or knowing to use other gadgets like the printer, scanner, fax, etc or something else?

you'll definatly have to learn to use microsoft word/excel..possibly powerpoint. im sure you can use the internet. if its your own business you'll have to know how to deal with finances. you can get a program called quicken that will help you out. hmmm that might be it?

I use QuickBooks instead of Quicken 'cuz I find it easier (left brain/right brain, maybe?) You will DEFINITELY want to be able to maintain your finances in a software program as it will be LOTS easier to file your taxes at the end of the year. I HIGHLY suggest you track your business and personal finances separately, up to and including using different banks.

I think we should control our own time first.
i guess it depends on what kind of work are you going to do.
But the basic skill is to manage a pc and then have a great adviser.

:work: Hi,
Claire and I started a home typing business a few years ago, called "Your Personal Office", and we put out flyers that we were a typing service and would prepare your resume, or type your term paper, or any typing you needed.
So you will only need typing skills, and know how to make flyers and
business cards.
We posted our flyers in the neighborhood only, mailrooms, laundrymats, grocery stores, banks, some restaurant bullentin boards, etc., and got work.
To Your Success,
David

I would say atleast learn the basics of using internet, word and excel will take some time for you after you learn internet..but you should atleast learn the basics of word and excel...and also lookout for typing tutors which are free to download from the web...that will help you to increase your command and typing speed on the keyboard.
