Hi, I am very new to this. I have a full time job and am a full time mom. I have been looking at stay at home jobs, but found that many are in the alternative, health related field. I am not at that age to really get excited over juices or vitamins. So here I am dabbing in affiliate marketing. Any advice on marketing?

Did you start a website or are you using a premade one through a company that you are an affiliate with? What have you done so far? Knowing where you are will make it easier to give advice.

I can tell you from 4 years experience that marketing is different depending on your product. I do 95% of my business in forums just like this. With Send Out Cards, it works great. With other businesses that I was with, it didn't work so well. So there are lots of variables. You must learn the alternates and select the best. I found a good site www.home-wealth-success.net in internet for a proven step-by-step system, you can start part time and make the internet work for you.
I look forward to getting to know you. Hope to see you around the forum.
God Bless,

HI, I am in the same situation. I started with a product few weeks ago, and was wondering what I can do about promoting it, but none of my friends are ready for a new vitamin thing - like you... So I found some info about MLM. It is very hard to make allot of money in, but affiliate marketing seems to be the only thing to get your product and business in the right doors. Let me know if you would like some free info on that I can email to you. Or click on the massage in my signature info. Since we are both beginners-it would-be grate to keep in touch,
Kate.

I just got the same problem, i couldn`t find a good business oppertunity.
Because i want it to be free, and i didn`t want to invest money.
I came on a free oppertunity, that anyone can do. So that includes us, full time mommie`s.

Wow a lot in this thread to absorb. First off, the nutritionist in me says you are never to young for vitamins and good health. But I can understand they are a very hard sell. That being said affiliate marketing is a great alternative. And both content and networking go hand in hand. Get yourself a website, start a mailing list, start adding content. It won't happen overnight, but if you work at it, it will happen!
Networking is very important. With both potential customers and a support network. Remember there are so many other moms out there that are doing the same thing you are doing, and we can all help each other. We shouldn't view each other as competition but as a support channel. The internet is a big place and has room for all of us.

That's really good advice from Judilynn. If you are interested in affiliate marketing -- take some time to think about things that you are really passionate about. It can be anything.
One example is my Mom. She loves to knit and built a website about knitting (http://www.knittinghaven.com).
If you are passionate about the subject, you will be much more inclined to continue creating a website that will be valuable. Valuable content will create loyal users.
From this site you can promote affiliate programs that relate to your subject and speak to your target market.
Google ads can also earn you a significant income as your traffic grows.
Lori
P.S. Judilynnn -- you have a typo in your sig so your link isn't working :)

Thanks for letting me know. That would be a case of fat fingers.
But other than that, you are so right Lori. You have to do what you love. Where is your passion?
Another piece of advice would be to find a mentor. Someone who has done it before and is willing to share with you. That way you can be saved a lot of trial and error.

Wow! There are lots of great ideas here! I'd like to throw a couple ideas into the mix for you.
First, to really make an affiliate site work, you need to have ALOT of patience. It takes time to build traffic to a point where you are making a steady income.
That said, one way to keep people coming back is to add a forum to the site. The forum can be about topics related to whatever your site's topic is. Most people prefer to come to a site where they can be a participant rather than just a by-stander, and a forum solves this problem.
Another thing you can do is add a blog to your site or blog off site and refer people to your blog from your site so they can comment if they would like to. You can also refer people to your site from your blog, so it works both ways, and you can add google adwords to your blog, as was suggested above for your site, which will help double your income from adwords because you'll have it in both places - site and blog.
Make sure you've got plenty of good, solid content on your site. This can be in the form or articles, and you don't have to write them all yourself. You can invite your visitors to write articles, which you will approve. You can allow them to place a sig line at the end of the article with their website in it, which will compensate them for writing the article. That way they know they might get traffic on their site from yours.
Finally, another idea you can use is to write a booklet about your topic. You can offer the booklet as a download from your site either for pay or for free. If you offer the booklet for free you can do it as a gift for the visitor purchasing a certain amount of your product, so you make a sale. Or, you can sell the booklet from your site and use it as another stream of revenue.
My company, Up & At 'Em Publications, helps other businesses produce a professional, quality booklet which they can use to promote their business or website. All businesses and authors who produce a booklet through our service get to publish their booklet on our website free of charge, which allows them extra exposure for their booklet and their business.
I've personally published two booklets, and I'm working on my third, so I'm speaking from experience when I tell you they really work. In my case, my booklets are not related to my website because my site is a publishing site which will allow many topics to be included. But, in your case, you would want your booklet to coincide with your topic since your website will be based around a tight theme, or niche.
If you would like to further discuss how a booklet can help you grow your business you can pm me here or contact me through my company's website. I'd be delighted to help you!
Anyway, I hope I've give you some food for thought. Running an affiliate sight takes alot of work, but if you do it right and you keep at it you will be successful.

First, to really make an affiliate site work, you need to have ALOT of patience. It takes time to build traffic to a point where you are making a steady income.
I want to add my strong agreement to this. It does take time and patiences! My personal site (that is my sig at the moment) is a site that I am playing around with affiliate marketing. It is growing. But it is not something that is mushrooming. You need steady progress. And this takes the patience. It may not happen over night, but if you have the patience you should be able to establish a steady income.
And here I want to make another point. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. My personal site will be a second stream of income for me. It only earned me a miniscual (sp) amount of money this month, but that is all more than I had last month :) and as I grow my other site and business I will always have this one to lean on. If for some reason, one has a bad month, there is always the other. It is always good to have a back up plan.
Hope that is all making sense. Sometimes I tend to ramble :D

Oh, good one Judi! Yes, yes! Diversify! I only need one website for the time being, but I offer so many things from that one site that most potential clients will find something that appeals to them or that can help them in the moment. But, if I were doing affiliate marketing as a business, I would have at least two sites that were related but not exactly the same, so they could cross sell each other.
As an example of this, I wrote my first booklet, "60 Ways to Make Fast Cash" and then I wrote the second one, "119 Ideas To Save You Money Now" so that they could cross sell each other. Both are related to the theme of money, but different topics on the same theme. You could do the same thing with two websites!

to consider is small $7.00 reports. They are usually about 25 pages so they are quick to make.
Be sure to have good content. You link them back to your main product/ site.
Include bonuses. (Not too many but people love free stuff)
Alot of times people will buy somthing instead of the alternative because of the freebie in it.
Take cereal for example if one box has a toy and the other doesn't you will most likely buy the one with the toy.
This goes for most stuff.
You can buy a hard drive to keep your music files on but, most people buy an Ipod for the fancy case and convenience.
You can also use the $7 Report to up-sell someone to a $17 report and so on. This will in turn help you make a list of people who love your products and opt in to be on your mailing list. Which will in turn get you your own affiliates.
If you want to know more about building a list:

**Not my sites but, I think he knows what he is talking about**
Ohh one more thing. People prefer odd numbers. So, when selling something of your own. Make is 19.99 or $7 instead of $10. Studies have shown that people will buy something at $17.00 before they buy it for $16.00. I have no idea why... but...

I was in a situation just like yours, when i had my daughter i searched high and low to find a work at home job so i could stay with her. I reserched for months before i found the perfect opportunity for me.
My tips on marketing would be to find something that the consumer really needs. There are a TON of marketing opportunities out there, but how many are actually offering something people really need!

I totally agree with Jaydas mom. It is so important to have a product that people need.
For instance JaydasMom looks to provide medical insurance something that the majority of us don't have. Same with my product. (In an nut shell- legal insurance). People just don't have the money to afford either. But, we need both. Just in case.
Neither of these products is a case of IF you will ever need it. They are both needed, it is just a matter of when.
The saddest thing is that medical insurance and 'legal insurance' are things people don't worry about for whatever reason and then they have to pay 100x's more then they would had they just got it in the first place.
I love the fact that I get to help people and make money. I am sure Jaydasmom would agree.
