I thought it was neat to read about the company:
Forbes lists Tupperware as one of the "50 Best Products in America," and Fortune magazine credits Tupperware with being one of the best inventions of the 20th century.
1907 Vacuum Cleaner
1918 Frigidaire refrigerator
1928 Home air conditioner
1942 Permaced duct tape
1946 Tupperware
1967 Amana microwave oven
A Tupperware party starts about every 2.2 seconds. More than 100 million people attend a Tupperware party each year around the world.
Tupperware is currently ranked #2 in home furnishing brands in the U.S. with sales of $1.8 billion in over 100 countries.
Today, Tupperware is one of the world's leading direct selling companies, with nearly one million independent salespeople bringing Tupperware's premium food storage containers, serving products, microwave cookware and children's toys to life in more than 100 countries.
“Direct Selling is the sale of a consumer product or service, person-to-person, away from a fixed retail location, where the company offers opportunities to an independent contractor sales force. Products are sold primarily through in-home product demonstrations, parties and one-on-one selling.” [Direct Selling Association, 2003]
In December of 2005, Tupperware Corporation changed its corporate name to Tupperware Brands Corporation in conjunction with the completion of its acquisition of Sara Lee Corporation's direct selling businesses.
Our new direct selling businesses, now called the International Beauty Group, are concentrated primarily in Latin America and Asia Pacific and sell beauty and personal care products.
As a result of the transaction, Tupperware Brands Corporation now has a combined independent sales force of 1.9 million and annualized revenue of $1.8 billion.
