View Full Version : Excellent new school for my kids!
I'm so thrilled to have Orion, my 8th grader and Max, my Kindergartener enrolled in such a terrific new school here in Vermont!
Check out the mission statement:
The mission of the Putney Central School community is to encourage, guide and support one another to grow as kind and respectful thinkers who trust and believe we can make a positive difference in life.
That just made me SO happy!

Sounds like a great school Lori!

Sounds like they actually put some thought in to their mission statement and hopefully their school.
Hope your kiddo's enjoy their new school!

I know how much trouble you had with the school districts so I'm happy you found some a wonderful school!

Thanks! I really hope they enjoy it too. It's a little school - but I love it. They have a glass hallway and the library has a big round window.
I like schools that incorporate natural light - I hate to think of the kids under those florescent bulbs all day long.
Another thing I love is that they have a big organic garden and tons of acreage. I've never seen a public school like it.

Glad to hear you have a school to be excited about and hope it continues to be a great school :D
Thanks Debbi and Nell --
The kids are both really happy. I was so worried about Orion (14) starting school in Vermont. What a RELIEF that he is making lots of friends and even has a girl interested in him!
Moving back to Vermont is something I've wanted to do so badly ever since we moved away. Knowing that the kids are happy makes me feel so much less guilty!

How did the first days go for your kids Debbi?

That's a public school? WOW! I'm big on public education but there aren't many choices in that here.
Does anyone know anything about virtual schools? Its public but the work is done from home. I have heard many arguments for and against it, and the funding here is iffy. I would eventually like to do that with my kids. They're only in first grade and head start right now, and we're happy with where they are and the fact that I get some time to myself five days a week!
Yeah! Public... Boy, I have never been so pleased with a school system.
I don't know of any Virtual Schools for school aged kids but I was thinking recently that it can't be far in the future...
My husband goes to college Virtually and it works really well!

The kids loved their first days of school. Zoe wants to be going every day but kindergarten is full days, every other day, so she can't yet. It's nice to have another part of a year home with her, at least.
They're all doing really well. Sebastian is working hard, Emily just finished cheer camp and Zoe was 'Mustang of the Month' at Elementary school. They're such good kids and I'm so proud of them.
:D
