View Full Version : Do You Watch Reality Shows?

Do you watch reality t.v. shows? If so, which ones? I am watching American Idol for the first time this season. I've seen a show here or a show there over the years, but this is the first season I'm watching every show.

I've also watched many years of Survivor. Probably the first 7 or even 8 seasons, I watched. I no longer watch the show.

My kids have watched Fear Factor, Dancing with the Stars and a few others. I don't watch any of those. What about you, what do you watch?

I just spotted this post - how fun, I just have to comment. I kind of scoffed at reality TV for the longest time. I never cared for Survivor, and couldn't take the gross-eating parts of Fear Factor. But somehow, while folding laundry in front of the TV or something, I caught a couple of "Project Runway" shows on Bravo and was hooked. I just had to know what happened every week. When that show finished, "Top Chef" started up and that was lots of fun, too. I can't wait for them to come around again (Bravo does a rotation of sorts). I really like the Amazing Race, too. I watched American Idol last year and really loved it. I'm watching it again this year, but I'm really getting soured on it. I've found out a lot about how unfair the entire process is. Do you know that one individual can vote literally hundreds of times from the same phone in the same night, and AI doesn't do a thing about it? And then there's votefortheworst.com and its thousands of supporters who are doing their best to vote in the least qualified contestant - you know who I mean if you've been watching. Hmmm...don't get me started. Maybe this should be in the "Vent" section. :hee:

I watch AI also and yes I know who should not be there anymore LOL.

I watched Survivor for the first 5 or even 6 seasons. I don't watch it anymore.

I think that's it on the reality shows for me. I don't watch a lot of t.v. at all.

I'm going to confess something I never thought I would - certainly not in writing! I get caught into that Top Model show.

I don't seek it out mind you, but if I happen to come across it channel surfing -- well, it just gets me every time!

LOL. My daughter watches that. My computer is in the living room, as is the t.v.

I'll admit I watch the reality shows too! My favorite is the Apprentice but I also never miss Survivor and The Amazing Race. I am also currently watching Dancing with the Starts and American Idol. I don't believe that the voting is fair with American Idol. My moms says she votes several times a night but I can never get through (I usually give up after about an hour of trying off and on). As for Dancing With The Stars, while I love the show I think it is obvious the more well known celebrities will always get more votes.

My daughter watches a show that has like 12 people. The contestant has to guess the identity of the 12 people. Does this ring a bell? I've caught bits and pieces of this show when she's watching.

Well, glad I'm not alone - my husband makes fun of me, but I've actually gotten HIM watching American Idol this year! I finally caved in today and set up the Tivo to record Shear Genius, which is the latest reality/elimination show from Bravo. Looks fun - competitive hairstyling! :hee:

I have to admit, I've not heard of this show. We did watch Idol last night. While it was indeed Sanjayas time to go home, it was sad watching him cry. He is a cute kid.

I spend so little time watching TV that I don't even know most shows you've mentioned here. Anyway, I was really impressed by Dancing with the Stars. :thumb:

My daughter had a show on yesterday. I know she had taped it. There were a dozen women who were trying to learn etiquette. I caught a scene here and there and it was a riot.

Are "reality" shows really "reality"?

I've watched several of them (AI and some runway, and top model etc.) but I think that they edit them so that they aren't the real reality!! LOL But basically I think most of them are just dumb!

Actually my fav is Celebrity Fit Club! Don't know why, but I like that one. I usually find the episodes channel surfing. I do that during commercials! ;)

I'm a reality TV addict... I think I watch them all... Big Brother is my Favorite though.. I can't wait until July... But for now I'm hoping Blake or Jordin will win American Idol... and have my favorites for survivior, America's Next Top Model and on and on..hehhehe

Audrey

I really like Blake and Joran also. Both are so unique in their own ways. Melinda needs more personality. I think she has a wonderful voice, however she needs more personality. She's getting there...this season on Idol has been great for her.

The two shows that I do watch are both reality shows--Survivor and The Amazing Race. Love them! :)

I've watched about 5 seasons of Survivor. I did enjoy it. I never saw season one. I have it on DVD but have not watched it.

There are not enough hours in the day to watch current t.v., movies and old t.v. LOL

I LOVE American Idol, but I live in New Zealand so it's usually a few shows behind, which sucks when I catch some news about who's gone home online. We also get New Zealand Idol and Australian Idol here, but I think American Idol is the best. What's fun is because New Zealand is such a small country, I have had a few friends who were on New Zealand Idol and one who keeps showing up in the audition footage but never gets in...sad!

I also love Trading Spouses, Extreme Make Over House Edition (that's one of my fav's) and sometimes Fear Factor...I love how the host makes fun of people.

Ok, I admit I am hooked on Flavor of Love Charm School. Oh those women are crazy and i laugh so much. I used to watch Fear Factor as well but how many times can you watch someone eat a live bug or animal intestines?

Sadly, I can't wait for Big Brother! LOL I just don't know what it is about that show. I have watched every season. I was pregnant during the second and just couldn't get enough.

Well, reality shows may be exciting in the beginning, but it gets tiring after many episodes. Frankly, i have never followed any reality shows over many episodes. Just watch them in the beginning for the hype of it and then dump them.

I'm an addict to just two

Hell's Kitchen
The Apprentice

I firmly believe all reality shows are "fixed" to some extent, some more than others.

I wrongly thought last week was the last week of Hell's Kitchen. My daughter got my hooked from day one. Next week looks like it will be a great show. I just hope Bonnie didn't blow it by choosing Julia.
