Hi, I am just starting out as a Virtual Assistant and I don't have any clients as of yet. My question is, can you make money off having a Blog? In short, can you have affiliates on your Blog site to generate income? Is that possible? I already have a website but have not generated any income yet. Any advice would be most helpful. Thanks.

The easiest way is to have a site filled with content first, then hit your niche market. There is a free way to do this, but there are no ads allowed in this forum, so please email me if you would like to learn more. Currently I'm offering free coaching to Work At Home Parents!

Hi there -- didn't catch your name :)

What type of content are you thinking about developing in your blog?

Search engines currently really love blogs. A blog with good content that is frequently updated can generate quite a bit of traffic. Many people put affiliate links and google ads on their blogs and generate some decent income.

You may also find that advertisers will pay you to put banners or text advertising on the blog once you begin to generate traffic.

I hope that we hear more from you!

Warm Regards,

Lori

I agree with Lori. Some blogs get an insane amount of traffic and if you put googles and other affiliate links up on it, you could stand to make a decent passive income. Plus, the more popular you are, the more people will want to advertise on your site.

Best of luck!

Blogs are great for relationship building too. Even if you don't do the bulk of your affiliate marketing from your blog site, you can use it to allow your visitors to get to know you. You can link to it from you main site an encourage people to sign up for your RSS feed and refer them to your main site in your blog posts (when appropriate).

I'm still getting my site up (developing content right now) but my home page is my blog...I have links to my other resources on every page, and will focus on marketing affiliate programs from content based pages (as well as google ads). That's the plan anyway...

People are more comfortable doing business with people they "know" and blogs allow your readers to get to know you.

That's a great point, Kelly. I think people are more confortable working with people they feel they know and it's always a good way to 'give' a bit of yourself away - using a blog I mean.

If you need any help on your site - just let me know!
