Anyone have a couple extra hours AND experience with article submissions? Let me know. I have a client I need to get done by the end of the month.
Thanks!

As you know I do have the experience, but don't have the time. I will, however, ask some of my VA friends for you :D
Hi Nell --
I didn't want to presume... Let me know if your schedule opens up though.
Thanks :D
Lori
P.S. Good luck with the teething Sad I just posted over at your blog.

Lori ~ I have lots of experience submitting articles and press releases. Actually, I spend over 50% of my time submitting to online sites, newpapers, tv and radio stations so if you still need help, shoot me an email.

How did you all get experience in this? I have a new client that would like me to start submitting articles for him. Any advice?

Mel has some good advice. I would contact her. I use Article Announcer for the gal I submit for. It's pretty easy to use :D
Nell, how does Article Announcer work? How many places does it submit to and are they all applicable categories?
Lori

Hi Jen,
Good to see you :) I got experience really by submitting my own articles. Then I started to offer it to SEO and design clients. Elance also has people looking for this service now and again :)
I haven't tried any of the new softwares out yet. Around Christmas time I posted a list to the group of places that accept articles: http://www.freelancemom.com/submitarticles.htm. It's a good starting point :)

You blast out your article to as many yahoo groups as you want at one time, but the directories you still have to do one at a time. You click the link to the one you want to submit to and it fills in all the article info for you...you just have to pick a category and submit it.
There are a lot of business links, but also many for parenting, and other categories. I don't think using AA is necessary, but if you want to then I say go for it. There was a bit of a learning curve but overall it's pretty simple to use and I'm getting much faster at it now. (if you buy it let me know first...I have an affiliate link for you. LMAO)
Do they have a trial Nell? I'd seriously consider it if I think its worthwhile... ya know?

Thank you for the great advice..
I will certainly put it to good use.
Jen - I was asked by a client to research and compile a list of websites that would accept articles and press releases, what the guidelines were, etc. Then she had me submit articles for her and she walked me through doing the first few. Now she sends me new stuff each week. I submit to hundreds of newspaper, websites, tv and radio stations depending on where the client wants their articles or PR's sent.
Nell ~ I was going to purchase article announcer and another submission software (for PRs) but I was discouraged by several people because they say you don't have much control over where everything is submitted so your articles end up being sent to places that aren't relevant which isn't good for you or the person receiving it. Is this not the case?
I have been looking for a bulk emailing software instead because I could at make my own categories according to my database and submit by choosing individual categories. Of course this is all in theory because I haven't actually found one I like real well.
Right now I still submit individually so I know the format is correct and to each place's specifications.
Thoughts??

I'm not sure I understand why they say they don't have control? That's bazaar to me as yes you do have control. You pick which groups you submit to and which websites.
There are more places that take business articles (it seems), but many of the articles I submit are parenting and others and I still submit to many websites.
I'm not sure if you can add your own...I'll see if you can as then the possibilities are limitless.
Again, I don't think anyone NEEDS this, but it's nice to have. If you buy it for your business then you can write it off (or at least some of it?). Let me see if I can get some more info for you before you make such a large purchase.
Thank you ma'am! I'd probably buy it if I could control where they were sent and it allowed me to add my own listings.
Hey Mel --
I haven't forgotten the article submissions, just been too busy to get it all organized. I'll shoot for getting it to you sometime tomorrow afternoon?

Yes, you control where it's sent since you gave to manually click on each place.
I still have not heard if you can add your own. I'll let you know.
No problem Lori, I'll be around all weekend and most of next week so when you find time, shoot me an email.

Hi all!
I do article submissions almost exclusively for my clients and I've found there are two ways you can go. One is to create a list, something I've done over the past ten years, and/or purchase software such as EzineAnnouncer (submits articles too) or ArticleAnnouncer. You have absolute control when you use software so that your article only goes out to sites that you choose. No articles are blasted out on their own because that would be spamming. I currently use EzineAnnouncer but am considering switching to ArticleAnnouncer.
If you are new to the technique and want to do it for others start with your own articles first and if you need to do a few free submissions for people you know in exchange for testimonials!
Hope this helps,
Bonnie

Thanks Lori!
Here are a couple more sources about article submissions:

And a terrific little e-book (free) about encouraging publishers to "wrap your articles" to avoid duplication penalities:

Kewl Bonnie!
