Hi. I'm in the middle of redoing my Graphic Design website and I'm really stuck on the best way to display my work. I don't want to show too many samples, but at the same time, I want to show the diverse things that I've worked on. (I have the same problem when I'm picking items for my book for interviews.)
Does anyone know of some good sample sites, templates or suggestions when it comes to "what not to do" and what is visually pleasing? How much is too much?
Thanks

Laura:
I took a quick look at both your sites. On the Souper Tees site, you seem to have an optimal number of examples in your portfolio and they all fit on one page, which is good. I did notice that you have two military-themed shirts and I'd recommend keeping it to one example of any given subject. (This comment is not a reflection on my feelings toward our men and women in the armed services...they dedicate their lives to protecting our country and it's freedom!) I'd also try to ensure that you have a good range of different looking designs.
The portfolio on your graphic design site is a little more awkward in that it is spread over twelve pages. I do like the fact that you show how all the designs for a specific client tie together. This is very powerful and almost offsets the portfolio being spread over so many pages. My biggest suggestion might be to trim down the number of examples you show online. You can then pull some other designs out of the archive when you visit a prospective client which might tie into their specific industry or needs.
Another way to approach this might be to segment your portfolio into different client industries. In this manner, you might have a financial services firm only having to go through 4 pages in your portfolio. If you did it this way, you could have more overall pages in your portfolio while still making it easier for a prospect to navigate through and find designs that are relevant to them.
Hope this helps.
