After returning from Washington D.C., I came home to an email from my landlord saying they are selling my condo. So, I am yet again perparing to move. I've looked at a couple of places so far and have one more appointment later this week. Will keep you updated.
Hi Audrey --
Thanks for holding down the fort here - I've had tons of client work lately -- will be around more often again now.
What a bummer about the condo! Have you found anything promising yet? How long have you been there?

It's been a living nightmare here :( On Sunday, they showed up to do an open house that I was not aware of.
I have two leads....I'm calling daily to say "is it mine?"
This is a really small town and I really want to do the right thing. I only wish I was being shown the same courtesy.
An open house you weren't aware of! That is outrageous Audrey!
I had a similar experience moving once -- where the landlady just kept bringing people in to see the place without notice... even when I told her I really needed it.
I hope you find something very soon. And I hope it's a great place. I'm sure it's a blessing in disguise some how - these things always are.

Lori,
Thanks.....the support I've recieved from friends is incredible. Here's what happened. I went to D.C. I was away from a computer for 5 days. I returned Monday night. There was an email from her when I got home that they were selling the house and the realtor needed to come either Tuesday or Wednesday. There was a 2nd email that said "I know you just returned, but I need the realtor to come in".
The realtor came on Wednesday. My house was a mess. Not dirty but a mess.
On Thursday, I got an email that the realtor told her my house unshowable and very messy. She offered to send a maid over.
I actually called her and said "I only just returned. I've had no time to clean etc".
One of her original emails said she wanted showings on both Friday and Sunday of that same week. I told her I can't keep leaving for 3 hours periods multiple times per week and offered a solution. Wednesday from 4-6pm and Sunday from 1-3 pm. She said ok, BUT then called and said she really needed a Friday for the realtor caravan. I wrote her back and said I had nowhere to put the dogs.
She wrote me again and said if it would be easier we could do the following week, meaning this coming Friday and Sunday. I said ok.
She mustve missed my OK because she had the realtor come this past Sunday. I was horrified when they showed up. I then got another email saying "we've been honest and forthright and need your cooperation". I sent her back a copy of her own email saying this week not last week.
I've not heard from her since.
So, this Friday, they have my house from 10am until 1pm and then on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm.
The place I'm looking at renting is free Feb 1st, so I'm hoping I can move that weekend.
That's the story up until now.

Wow Audrey! How stressful! I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot she wouldn't have liked it very much. I wish people would think and realize they wouldn't like being treated that way so they shouldn't do that to someone else.
I hope you find another place soon and your move will go smoothly.

Thanks...we are very hopeful we'll sign papers on a place Monday. Very very coincidentally there is another condo in my complex that will be free on Monday. The current tenants refuse to let anyone see it. I've tried to strain my neck to see in their windows, but it hasn't worked LOL.
If I like the inside, I'll take it. If I don't like it we looked at a house that is ok. It wasn't great but it's ok and so I'll take that. Our weekends in February are way way busy. I'm thinking there is not one weekend in February I can move. So, my daughter said she could take a Tuesday off work...so can I. We might move on a Tuesday. Wierd I know, but we have committments on the weekend that really are not negotiable.
I'll let you know on Monday what we see.

Audrey,
What a mess! Im sorry about all your confusion! Wow! I feel so lucky... we sold our house in a week and only showed it one time.. however.. the girl that bought our house is our next door neighbors sister! Lol...and HE was the reason we put our house up for sale.. because he was letting his home go to the dogs (literally)..lol....ugh!
Good Luck Girl.. Hope you get settled really soon! :(

I have two leads. One is literally a 30 second walk from where I live now and the other is about a 7 minute drive. I'll know on Monday if one of them is mine.

good morning Audry!!
wow you have had an event or several, how frusturating!!! ya know while you are still there look up you're states land lord tenant laws!!! I know i have thrown the law at a few landlords who have tried illeagle things, They have a right to give you notice in almost all states but they have to allow for resonable accomadations, I hope she gave you a written notice, because most states you are alloted the minimum of 30 days!! plus if you still have not found a place a majority of the laws go in you're favor, and the new owners would have to allot you the time to find a new place, I pray you find one that you like, Just remember dont let these people use you as their door mat on their way out!!!

I thought I'd provide an update. I moved 3 weeks ago. Actually, Sunday will be 4 weeks. We totally love the new house.
I can laugh now, but within 2 weeks of moving we had two problems that left me wanting to pull my hair out.
First we had some horrible rains. We are talking one inch in one hour, pouring pounding rains. We'd had rain prior to this but this rain was horrible. I have a huge bay window. You guessed it, it leaked during this HORRIBLE rain.
Three days later, we had one of the worst wind storms we've ever had here. I lost power twice. During the 2nd power outage, my heater shorted out. It took 3 days to get it fixed, so I had been without heat for 3 nights. That was the pitts.
Finally, the previous tenant cut the cable wires for t.v. As of yesterday, I now have cable. Yay!!! So, we had several hiccups, but we really do love the house and are really happy this move came about.
