Who uses them and who doesn't?
I can tell you right now that I don't BUT now that we're thinking of growing the VA business (at least until affiliate marketing is more stable for us) and adding more services we're thinking we probably should.
Any thoughts on this? Does anyone have a realllly good general contract that is good to use with basically any client that they can send my way?
I have a contract with 2 of my clients but the rest I don't because I know them personally & trust them. I do plan to use them for any new clients I get.
I think if you are going to build your business then it'd be a good idea to get in the habit of using them. Besides it will CYA if something happens.
I'll email you the ones I have and you can modify them if you want.

I have a small contract that I have used with one client, but would love to see others.

Hello,
I think it will be a good idea to use contracts to cover yourself. If you prefer not to use contracts, why don't you consider using a work order agreement signed by you and the client?

The original post here is pretty old, but I think a contract is a MUST. I see so many VAs get into trouble and wish they had gotten it taken care of the first time around. That money spent with the attorney may save you a lot of heartache down the road. Find a free one online, tailor it to your needs and then hire that attorney. Yes, it's expensive, but worth every dime. I honestly can't believe the number of people out there that work without contracts or work agreements. Even if it's a close friend or family member, you really should get it all down in writing.

I have a wholesalers contract for a couple of different reasons. Since I make my own products from my own patterns -- I have a bit invested in "my" product. I also own Intellectual Property Rights and in order to oversee how my name is used and where, I need a contract to establish the appropriate boundries. I am also a competing retail store to pending wholesalers needing to establish a price floor/ceiling so that my wholesale prices are not undercut. I also feel it is courtesy to set up a time line for a pending termination.
I think for those who are in need of a contract -- The WallStreet Journal Advertises LegalZoom.com (I hope I got it right).
Contracts are a way to ensure everyone plays nice!:lol9:
