Hey ya'll, I'm curious about something. I had a friend ask if I charge extra for people to pay using paypal.com since paypal.com takes a fee out. I don't charge my clients extra for that fee, but was curious how many do (if any) and how many don't. Do most of you use paypal.com or another form of payment?
Hi Nell,
I don't... I just write it off during tax time. If I did decide to, I think I would just work it into my rate as opposed to separately billing them for it.
When a client gets to the point where the paypal fees are significant, I ask for them to start sending checks though.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I suppose if/when a clients bill gets large enough that the fee makes a large dent I would probably opt for a check.
I use paypal for all my clients and no I don't charge extra. One of the benefits to having a paypal account is you draw I think 3% interest on the money in your account which is far better than any bank around here so it sort of equals out in the long run.
Do you gals use the paypal debit card? That's nice because you earn some cash back on all your purchases...
I love my paypal debit card. I use it almost exclusively for small purchases.

Hi, just passing thru and noticed this thread.
If I am not mistaken its stated on Paypal that the fee is not to be charged directly or indirectly to the payer.

I use paypal for some clients and I do not charge any type of fee. The fees are deductible and I think it would not sit well for most clients to be assessed a 'fee' for paying me!
Also, Lori, I use the paypal credit card all the time - 1% back is awesome! And if it's business related, all the better.
