I wanted to point out that you don't HAVE to submit your website to the SE's. They will find you on their own. The large ones anyway, but it doesn't hurt anything if you want to submit them to SE's. It is just a waste of time. Even google says they will find you and you don't need to submit your site to their SE.
Now directories are another story. But if you just want the SE's to find you then they will find you on their own. I never submit mine and they are indexed in the SE's within a few days
Also, please never pay to submit or pay someone to submit your site. Before I knew the RIGHT way to SEO I paid someone each month to submit my site to the SE's and a few months found out that this wasn't very helpful to my sites and was a waste of my money. Oh well, you live and learn, right?
