What do you do when you are stressed out. Do you go and see a film, spend time with your family, or just lock yourself in a room and spend time alone. All of us have different ways of destressing - let us share them.

I read, I walk, I crochet, I turn on an old movie, I turn on a game show, I scrapbook, I call a friend. I keep trying different things until I find one that allows me to feel relaxed.

I shop for fabric and I sew things I want to work on. Otherwise I don't get much R & R.

Mary Beth,

Do you quilt? That is something I've never done. I've seen some really beautiful quilts.

I wish I had the patients to quilt but I do not. I don't knit for similar reasons - although I am always interested in it. My SIL just learned to knit so I gift her lovely hand painted BFL yarns, which fills my need to enjoy the yarn.:) I tend to stay with projects that are completed in a hour or a couple.

Pittsburgh has a wonderful Arts Center. I have just registered for a non-credit course -
The Pottery Wheel - January - March on Monday mornings while my three children are in school. I have a beautiful - large, auto programable KILN waiting to be installed in the garage when I can get things organized from my husband's loss. I have several years of pottery in high school and college, but I have not touched a piece of clay since I went back to school for a second degree in Art with my husband in 1996. I am rusty to say the least! Diving back into it for sanity, time for me, and also to enhance my business in the future with a specific line of potted products to compliment my pads.

I did spy that the Arts Center offers quilting classes though!

If your a quilter you need to find a Michael Miller/NYC Co-op. "Awesome" quilting fabrics.:yup:

I mostly crochet squares, done in under an hour LOL. When I've made complete afghans, after about a week, I'm going nuts, wanting to be done. I also love to rubber stamp and scrapbook. I can do scrapbook pages in under and hour and make rubber stamp items also in an under an hour. I never really had thought about it, but I guess I'm very much an under an hour type of gal ;)

I shut myself in the room and read or watch TV.

Sometimes I'll go for a walk. Sometimes I need to try different things but those are the activities that really help.:D

What I end up doing depends on what I need.
If I am stressed and feeling agitated and angry...I like to watch an action movie where there are explosions and fight scenes!

If I just need to relax, I enjoy making a cup of tea and watching a good movie or show like "flip that house".

I don't get much quiet time to read, but that used to be my favorite thing to do. I can get lost in a good book.

I LOVE taking a bubble bath. I don't get much time to have a "quiet" soak as the children are constantly either knocking on the door or barging in.

Oh yes, those were the days.:) I can't remember the last time I've enjoyed that.

Scented baths...
Optimize my sites... (That's actually relaxing for me, yes... and something I feel bad to do generally because I have so much client work I SHOULD be doing)
Curl up in bed with hubby and watch a movie...

Those are my favorite ways to de-stress :)

Definitely watching old movies or just a good comedy does it for me. I sometimes read as well. Also, a lot of the time...doing updates on my sites works well for me.

I like a sense of accomplishment. ;)

Relaxation? What's that? ;)

I read. A LOT! Like 100 books per year!

I totally understand about not having much "me" time. But I started something recently that is helping. We belong to Blockbuster Online. I've timed it on my list of movies waiting to be shipped so that every week or two I get a movie just for me. You know, the kind that your husband would have to be forced to watch. I sit down for those two hours by myself and enjoy my movie. I was hoping to do this every week but I haven't been able to set aside two hours each week for just me. Sad, huh? But I know you all can relate. The last movie I watched was The Lake House, which I loved! Next on my list is Four Weddings and a Funeral, which somehow I've never seen.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Asa,

I love movies. My daughter actually works at Blockbuster, so we forever have movies at home to watch. She and I both belong to Blockbuster Online, so we swap movies back and forth.

Right now, I've been watching tons of old t.v. shows from the 80's.

I like to watch military movies...love them!

I like to take bubble baths, do manicures & pedicures, do some crafting, get a massage and swim when i want to relax :)

I also like to listen to books on CD's too.

I read or watch tv mostly. I wish I was talented and could knit or so but I am not too crafty.

I'm a huge tea drinker. I drink all kinds of teas. Mint and green tea are probably my favorites.

Bubble baths! Super hot water and just soak and feel all the stress go away. I would love to be a napper but can only nap when Im sick and that isn't fun. I also like to scrapbook when everything is organized and I can get to it. Now and then golf is a great way to relax but it can also have the opposite effect if Im having miserable shots

I've not had a bubble bath in years. It's just not my thing. Scrapbooking....yea, I could spend hours...ok days planning and attaching LOL.
