Has anyone tried setting up a catering kind of service from home ?
If you are good at cooking something - why not try selling it to people on order. If I was living in the US I would have loved to have started a catering business of Indian food. Provide home cooked lunches for single people and a few dishes for parties.

This seems like a good idea. I am surprised more people are not doing it. No investment - doing something you enjoy and are good at.

State health laws is what prevents many from food related businesses. A home kitchen can almost never be used. If a home kitchen is used, it must meet commercial kitchen specifications.

A personal chef is different, as you are cooking for folks in their homes, preparing the food right there, in their ovens, on their counters.

US laws are pretty stringent about quality. People are scared to violating these norms. That's whay, though the option is lucrative and interesting, it hasn't caught up!
