How manywomen here are grandmothers ? I am one, loving it and of course think that my grandchildren are the smartest, cutest and most gorgeous on the world.
But it really is so much easier to take care of your grandchildren. maybe you are more relaxed, more experienced and less stressed out.

I agree whole heartedly. I wish my children had had a mother like the grandmother my grandchildren have.

I am not so much interested in whether or not my grandchildren are well behaved as I am in whether they are happy.

I may be more tired watching them than when I was younger and took care of mine, but I am much more relaxed.

If only we all knew then what we know now........

Even as a mom, I find I'm much easier going with my second child than I was with my first chil.

I can't wait to be a grandmother! I never thought I'd say this.

But gosh darn it! I'm ready! :smitten:

Melanie,

How old are your kids? Mine are 16 and 23. Neither has a boyfriend right now.

I'm really fortunate in having a few friends with kids under the age of 5. I do get to be around them and play with them from time to time, so I have that "grandma" need met :)

I am a proud grandmother of three granddaughters. Ashley 16, Julia 14, and Lia just turned 13 today. I cannot believe that the baby is 13 years old. They are growing up into fine young ladies.

But here is the good news. My son is getting married the beginning of the year. So I get to be a grandma with a whole set of new babies again! whooppeeee!

I love my life!

Love,
Luella

Why do granparents make such great babysitters - maybe because their love for the child is totally biased and all encompassing. They are so much more relaxed with their grandchildren and will forgive them all their transgressions !!

You know it's interesting you speak of grandmothers being babysitters. I have a few friends who have either moms or mother in laws watch their kids and I actually feel sorry for the children. These grandmothers are very controlling. You are very correct about a grandmothers love being like no other :)

My kids are 27, 21, 18, 15. My friends don't have small children so I'm not that lucky. I don't know what's wrong with my 2 older kids. They say they want nothing to do with having kids. :(

My two children are 10 years apart. So when my son was 12, I was already a grandmother. He used to get so frustrated with me because I would spoil the grandbabies and be a totally different, kinder, nicer person when it came to them. I gave him the facts of life. That is a grandmother's job.

He is getting married at the beginning of the year and it will be his children that I now spoil. I can't wait!

My son is 21 and will be getting married I think sometime in "2008" :hi:
He is the only one we have. But they want 2 or 3 kids.

I can't wait to be a grandmother! :D :D
