One of my tips would be to get organized with your notes and paperwork. Buy a folder with dividers or a file folder. Transfer all your messy notes to more neat and easy to find subjects. I have been working at home since September and now in December, I am barely getting caught up with my organization. I have a 17 month old if that tells you why. I stay up late to get my things in order. I find that I can work much better when things are not a mess all over my desk and office. Of course the mess behind me is a different kind of mess (toys, etc.) LOL

If you are well organised, then half your work is done. Learn in the beginning itself to organise your paperwork. If that is not done then, everything takes even longer.
File your correspondence as soon as it comes - and you will save a lot of time

When I was growing up, my mom decluttered all of the time. If she opened a piece of mail, she dealt with it then and there. She did not open it, only to close it again and put it into a pile. If she found she was 3 or 4 months behind in a magazine subscription, she would cancel it. After all, truly how many of us really find the time to go back 3 or 4 months and "catch up on reading?"
So, I tend to do the same thing. I try to declutter often.

Organisation is the key. Always deal with an issue then and there. The To-do-later list will never get resolved in time leading to huger and huger piles!
