Many of my VA friends have gotten their clients via networking. I actually found both of my steady clients via networking and word of mouth.

Great minds think alike. When I read the title of the folder, I was coming to post the same thing.

Can you offer any networking tips? I am a fairly quiet reerved person. Selling myself is not easy for me!

Thanks,
Missy

Ryze (http://www.ryze.com/go/athomept) is a great place to start. I am new there, you can join for free.

At forums like this, is another great way to network with others. I have noticed many forums are adding a network thread as well. good luck

This is how I do most of my networking. I pick message boards that contain topics on working at home or operating a home business because this is my target market (working moms and women in business). I stink at selling myself but when you talk about things you know and have a passion for, you automatically sell yourself. People start listening to what you have to say and they will start contacting you for this or that.

At least that's how I've gotten many of my clients.

Networking and word of mouth really does seem to be the most common way VA's grow their business.

Forums and business events are certain great ways to network. I also find that simply striking up conversation with local business people has been a great way to network. Even if the businesses have an existing web site, I'll be happy to discuss it with them and offer advice. Even if I never get business from them, I've gotten referrals this way.

That's right! And charity projects have turned out to be excellent networking opportunities for me also.

Even just providing a discounted rate to do graphic and web design to fellow WAHM's has returned itself triple fold in new business...
