Hi all!

There can be no greater success than landing a client! It is a thrilling moment that ends all too quickly when the real work begins.

:D

Another success was when I finally taught my 3 year old that when my office door is locked, it means I am on the phone with a client, and pounding on the door is not a good idea. Instead, she grabs her blankie and a book, and leans against my door.

Cheers to us moms!

Hi Debby :)

I'm wondering if you have ideas for ladies on drumming up clients.

How did you get your first clients? I know you always have more work then you can possibly handle...

Do a lot of your clients come from word of mouth? Or do you actively pursue them?

Thanks!

Lori

Lori - my clients come from all over. More often now are clients who have been referred to me by current or previous clients. Word of mouth and networking are truly the way to go!

But before that, I would actively search for clients in a number of places..elance, ework, freelanceworkexchange, etc....

Sometimes you can find stuff at the classifieds sites, but my experience is that they are a lot of SCAMS that should be avoided at all costs.

The bottom line is this: all businesses that work online need a VA. It's that simple. A lot of internet businesses will try to handle everything themselves, and it's possible in the short run. But if they hope to actually grow beyond the inital business, they MUST HIRE A VA. I consider it my job to get them to realize this :)

If you want any more insight into how to do this, just send me a private message....

Cheers and here's to a great 2004!

I see this is a very old thread, but was curious how your business is doing?

I'm super busy, and I love it. I have moved more into design, which I am very passionate about.

Thanks for asking.

You're so optimistic Nell! LOL.

We just moved up to Vermont - everything is chaos.
I so WISH I didn't have so much client work right now!

Deep breath.

I understand :) The last week of the month is always crazy for me and I've been glued to the computer the past few days working for my clients. It is always stressful the last week for me.

Yeah - the last week is awful! AND the first... I'm always lucky to get my own newsletter out after doing all my clients stuff :)

I'm not quite as brave as you yet and have hired very little help. The help so far as often ended up costing me time and money - or else made me not look so great with clients. So I'm hesitant - even though I know that is the next step.

Have you tried out that auto article submitter Alice is promoting? I'm strongly considering buying that.

No, I haven't. But I've heard both Alice and Lynn talk highly of it. I don't have the money right now. I do use www.isnare.com right now and I'm really happy with them. Not nearly as good as AA, I'm sure, but it's nice for those on a tight budget.

Speaking of AA... Do you know if you can add your own listings to the program? I had someone ask me that a few days ago because they would like to purchase it but they want to make sure they can add certain sites into the database that might not be there.

They asked about some press release submission software too though I can't remember what it was called.

The cost for either one is way out of my price range at the moment but I'm ever hopeful that I can get it one day (or the next thing that comes along).

I believe so , but am not cerain. You would have to email them to be sure. You might find the answer on the page that talks about it...or find the email to email them about it. You can CLICK HERE (http://wetrack.it/eza/af.cgi?aid=4463&ent=26)to read about it.
