View Full Version : This Mama ROCKS!
You can't even imagine the mess I dealt with today!
Two of my boys share a room and it isn't a very large room. They have SO many toys and no storage. The mess had just become overwhelming.
I went through EVERY single item in their room today - right down to hundreds of small pieces of games, marbles etc...! I even vaccumed the bottom of their toy box!
It was so rewarding to see how happy they were and how excited they were to play in there afterward.
I started the job at about 10am and didn't finish until 6pm! Some Sunday huh?!
But worth every second!

Lori,
That is AWSOME. I have days where I go through the house throwing everything out. The kids are a riot. They start collecting their things and hiding them so that I don't zap them up and toss them out.
Right now I really need to clean our garage. We moved into this house in March of this year. I've never been through the stuff we put in the garage. I just can't seem to motivate myself to really just do it!!!
I think it's great that the boys were happy. That's a huge plus.

I'm so jealous! My son just had a birthday and he got SO MUCH STUFF. I try to do a deep clean and get rid of old toys every few months, but we haven't had time... sigh... I guess I'm gonna have to now... there are toys everywhere. Their rooms are disaster areas.

Wow...that was a big task there. I'm glad your boys were happy. :t4:
We moved into our new house in 2003 and I still haven't gotten the basement cleaned out. We stored so much stuff down there.
It is literally a mess down there! :hee:
One day I guess...
Update - it's STILL clean!
I moved on to my teenagers room today. He 'should' be able to clean it himself by now, I know... but it's not happening.
I have to admit, I haven't been the best role mode to him on that level.
Continually seeking to improve though

Lori,
I think there is not a gray area here LOL. Like you, I pick up sometimes, clean sometimes, allow clutter sometimes. Then I have friends who NEVER have a cluttered home, never have dust around etc. I just have not found folks that are inbetween ;)
Glad the room is still clean. That's great.

Yeah, I've come to except that about myself :)
Actually Fly Lady (http://www.flylady.net) has really been working for me. Sometimes I 'fall off the wagon' but she's right there when I'm ready to start up again!

Well...I have a 21 year old son, and needless to say, his room is not always clean. LOL :p That's putting it mildly.
His fiance cleans it every now and then...maybe once every 2 weeks or so. lol
I go in there and just try and pick up just a bit every few days, (without snooping of course). ;) lol
Ahh...the joys of motherhood! :flower:

My son's idea of clean is completely different from mine...so when I ask him if his room is clean, he always says yes. Then, I go downstairs and it's a DISASTER! :)

Lori,
You DO ROCK! It does feel good to clean out all the clutter once in a while... its good for the soul too! When it comes to the teenagers...I have a 15 year old daughter.. and I have found with her..she will do it most of the time.. but sometimes I have to go in (when she's not home) :thumb: and do some myself..she has things she has forgotten even exist! :p
