: I was just wondering if anyone could share with me their experiences with trying free advertising. I am just getting started with this and was just wondering what works and doesn’t work. If you have any advice I am open to listen! Thanks

Without sounding flip... you get what you pay for :-)

I have gotten a client or two from answering a craigslist ad, but I'm very picky about which ones I answer and it's always a very detailed response by myself and very much steered towards their ad.

Do you have a local business networking group that you can join. A great free advertisement and way to meet face to face new contacts.

I use Free Advertising any time I can get hold of it! Thats how most of my leads find me! I also take advantage of visiting forums and message boards... :yup:

I've used a few free ads online. I have to say that most I've seen, I've decided against using b/c there seems to be so much spam. Who wants to post an ad b/t stuff that you see everyday in your bulk mail folder (trash)? How can people take you seriously when you're wedged b/t viagra and get rich quick schemes?

I write articles. It's one of the best methods of free advertising you'll find. My goal is to write 2-3 articles per week. That's 150 in a years time.

Not only do you get exposure from the article directories but when you write quality articles, publishers pick them up as well.

This is one of the things that I would like to do as well. I know articles can inform, build trust and give a business positive exposure. :work:
What are article directories? http://people.delphiforums.com/sunshine210/smilies/emotions58.gif

Article directories are literally directories that contain articles. A few of my favorites are ezinearticles.com ladypens.com and buzzle.com There are many others, some very specialized, some more broad.

I keep track of my articles in a spreadsheet. I have the name of the article across the top and the article directors down the side. I then have the date I submitted each article.

My goal is 2-5 new articles each week. The hits you get from your article is very targeted traffic to your site. Your signature indicates you sell baby products. What if you could write 1-3 parenting articles each and every week? Think of the folks that might see that. Parents have babies ;)

Hope that helps.
