View Full Version : Bogus threads in this forum!
I'm so sick of the bogus threads found in this forum! I think we've been picked up by a spam bot or something. I'd remove the forum, but thought better of it. At least they've pretty much been isolated here so I can find them right away and clean them up.
Still... yuck! I apologize for all the junk threads in here. I try to delete them as soon as I can.
Feel free to report posts that are spammy or otherwise inappropriate. I appreciate your help!

I see a lot too and I hate to say it, but it drives people away. It's hard to fish through what's real and what's one-hit wonders or spammers. I see this in a lot of forums and some have moved to an application process. They are very simple, but drive away the ones that type one post or ad and head on their way. Might be something to think about Lori.

Thanks Sammy, I really appreciate it.

I know Jennifer, I'm sorry.
It's a tough one because I know that some of the spam is actually well intentioned. A lot of newbies to home business are taught that this is a great way to get leads. I don't think they consider what a detriment it is to a public discussion board.
I continue to try to provide women with tips on how to genuinely network and build trust utilizing forums - unfortunately -- it's been a futile effort :)
I'm more present on the forums now that Jasmine is born, so hopefully I can weed through it more regularly and make sure the content that's provided here is useful and engaging.
Thanks for sticking around :)

Lori,
You are doing a fabulous job! I shouldn't have been so negative.. I apologize for that.
It's funny, I'm not here often, but I always come back eventually :)
It's a nice break from everyday life to chat with other WAHM's.
PS... I love your avatar.. It's fun to see your family. When will you have a new one with Jasmine??

 Hi, all. I happened across this article on spam. I think everyone knows what it is but may not know how to get rid of it. It's certainly time spent on a frustrating task. And, yeah, it's like a virus that just keeps mutating to adjust to changes. Here are some tips on how to deal with it.

Thanks Jennifer :D
I really do need a new pic... I actually have three boys! My oldest son Orion (15) is behind the camera on this one! I'm a little camera shy so there aren't many of me...
I really LOVE yours too! What cuties!

Hi Lori,
Thanks for keeping this forum open and maintain it. I think spammers really go after the keywords 'work at home'. They must use software to post on the forums.

Anne,
The spammers are getting more and more sneaky in how they sign up and get their nonsense on the boards. Lori and I try very hard to remove the nonsense as quickly as it's posted. So glad you're enjoying the boards.

Yes Lori,
I think that spammers look for the words "work at home" and then they use softwares that can really post spam ads, postings etc. to these kind of forums.
Heck, I hate to say this but yes it is true but I really appreciate your patience and I am sure you will overcome this very soon.
Keep up the good work that you are doing !!

I belong to a few forums and I have to say that this is the least spammed one. So you girls are doing a great job, keeping them out.
Alot of people do, do the keyword search thing. I have to be honest that is how I found this forum. Not intending to spam but to get some tips & to help others out.
