View Full Version : Lori's Contact List - Programmers needed
I would like to get a list of programming contacts.
If any programming Mom's meander into the boards -- let me know :)
I am launching www.zendesignz.comthis week and would like to have a few trustworthy and talented women to pass database, shopping cart and other tech stuff work to.

Hi Lori
I'd love to be added to your list - I do ecommerce and I have worked on a few database driven sites (although i would not promote myself as one of the best database experts around by any means).
But my shopping cart is very good (even if I do say so myself) my hubby helped me to write it (he is a Cambridge universtiy computer science graduate who does Java, C++ etc programming for a living so I am very confident with that).
:) Sadie
TERRIFIC Sadie -
I'll for sure keep you in my lineup!

Hey Sadie,
Just curious -- how are you with installing php scripts on servers?
Any experience?
Hope all is well!

Hi Lori
Well I guess it depends on the server! I've done it on my own root server no problem and DH has helped me with any bits I've not been able to do myself (he's a computer programmer - Cambridge University graduate so very useful to have around :) )
I guess that wasn't much help really was it?
Alls well here thanks! Quite busy at the moment and getting quite a bit of logo design work through.
how are things with you?
:) Sadie

I forgot to answer! Sorry!
I'm thinking about installing a rotating banner script in the forum. My server is unix...
I need to find out first if the script will run in this enviornment correctly.
If you're interested in a small job like that, let me know and if I find out the script will work -- I'll send you the information and you can give me a quote on it.
Things are going pretty well :) I have more work then I'm used to now too... but it's hard to find creative time with the kids...
I'm just hoping they'll be calmer today!
Lori
I'm a programming mom who's wandered onto the site, I guess.
I do UNIX programming, system administration, site administration, networking, and like that. I've founded two successful ISPs, done tech support management, system development, shell scripting, database design, database access programming, perl, C, php, I dunno and whatnot, not necessarily in that order... if it's geeky, I probably do it, though I'm not a big Windows person. I've also done Macintosh software development and QA, though there's not a lot of call for that.
For consulting, I'd be interested in taking smallish short-term jobs. I stay home with my two year old and she's, well, not always so accomodating to my attempts at serious concentration. But, I've found a lot of the things I think of as quick and easy other people thought were complicated and long (and, well, vice versa, too), so I don't mind being approached with any possibilities.
Welcome Q :D
It's terrific to have you here. What an incredibly valuable contribution you have to add to our mix. You might also want to post over in the services section here: http://www.freelancemom.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=45
I hope we here more from you and about you. I'm happy you find us.
