Hi Everyone! I had seen a note on the Classy Chic board that Shelly put there and decided to come on over and see what was going on here.

I am Sara Tamburrino and I have a business called Sara's Shop - Handcrafted Amish Baskets & Gifts. I sell items made by midwestern Amish families via my website (address below) and craft shows in the fall. I currently have beautiful baskets, scented soaps, quilts, and woven rugs. I invite you to come by and visit my site.

I live in central Missouri with my husband Tim. I love to travel when I get the chance.

Hi Sara,

It's great to meet you, thanks for coming by. That sounds like a terrific business and really rewarding. How did you get involved with it?

I love the baskets - they look like they are excellent quality and beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Sara Sweetie,

Thanks for stopping by!

Lori...I purchased a Amish made basket purse from Sara a few months ago and LOVE IT!

Funny thing is this....I live 45 minutes for Amish Lancaster PA country and the amish baskets down there are VERY pricey!

Sara's baskets are HIGH quality and very affordable...I love my basket purse!

Thanks so much everyone. I also agree that the things that I have found to put in my shop are of excellent quality and I feel that I have found them for a good price. I couldn't believe how much the baskets in PA were, that Shelly was talking about.

Hi Sara,

Its ONLY getting worse down there too! The Lancaster PA Amish tourists are what is driving up the price! I went down for a day right before I went into the hospital in July....OH MY....very pricey!

I was looking at a Amish Made Bed Quilt in the Queen size, it was BEAUTIFUL but they wanted $450 for it...out of my price range!

You found a bargain on that quilt. These quilts are handmade and have many hours of work in them. Most of the quality made Amish quilts on the internet that are queen size are in the $800-over $1000 range, depending on the amount of work on them. I agree with you though - I couldn't afford even the $450. I currently have a full - queen size quilt on my web site that I am selling for $600.

I have got to remember to sign in before writing notes. The last one was by me.

Hi Sara,

I agree! With my medical bills increasing by $1,500 more a month then what they were....I will have to save up for a handmade quilt.

Love handmade anything! Working on another set of embroidered pillowcases right now...I have a girl in Oregon who orders them from me for her shop....so she placed an order for 12 sets so I have to get them all done before Oct. 25th as she wants them for her holiday shoppers then I have a local shop here who ordered 5 sets...so my little fingers will be busy stitching!

Our medical bills are going up, too - not nearly $1500 a month, but enough that it is affecting my monthly budget. Medical bills are just working their way out of being affordable for middle income people.
