I'd be curious to know myself. Years ago I ran into a similar opportunity for making beaded earrings.

It ended up that they rejected the finished project and I ended up footing the costs for the materials.

What kind of guarantees are there for this biz op?

It is true that the "Buy Back Program" is not working in the Disciple Cross business due to some problems before the hurricane (they are located in Slidell, LA) and now there are some delays related to this disaster.

Forget about that. My husband makes these crosses and sells them to local stores, friends and Pastors. It is not a living income, but he enjoys making them in his spare time and gets a little pocket change (up to a couple hundred dollars a month) for his efforts, plus the satisfaction of creating a quality product.

And if you can find a Christian merchandise or bookstore in your area that does not already sell them, you might actually make a bit more than that! There is a learning curve to getting perfect crosses, but many creative things can be done with them once you get the hang of it. So, I would not totally discount the opportunity that these little crosses provide for some people willing to do the work ...

Try these sources for supplies (not affiliated with me or DC at all):
http://www.authorized-dc-nailbenders.com/ - They BEND the nails for you, and this saves a lot of time!
http://takinupthecross.com/cart/index.php - Upgrade to casted pewter crosses and silver wire!

Since Disciple's Cross owns the copyright on these crosses, most people want to buy the initial kit and go through the training and certification process, so they can use the DC label. You have to bend your own nails to get certified: http://tinyurl.com/d4u7o

You can also find more information at the Yahoo Group - DC Help, which is also not affiliated with DC, but a place where DC producers meet and greet: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dchelp/

God bless,
Simone
