Hi there
I just invested in an online business which has already brought in a few dollars. It did take a little bit of work but the instructions are really easy to follow. If you are interested...

True. I have been led to believe that affiliate programs are the best way to start an online business- especially if you do not have a product. Its easy and hassle free. Obviously I might have to design a new website!

Good luck on your new venture Fish! Internet marketing is very exciting... always the prospect of making a good amount of money. Just continue to learn everything you can, and apply what seems to work the best. And most of all, stick with it! :t4:

That might have been me ;)
I use the rich jerk, but the information within isn't anything I couldn't find out on my own with out the book with extended research and reading- well, with the exception of a few things. To say you can just set up a website and go, however.. no :) It doesn't work that way at all, unfortunately. It takes money, the amount depending on your efforts and it always takes a little more than you anticipated.. and time.. a little time? No way ;) I spend a lot of time promoting sites and affiliate programs and reviewing stats. I have stats for every page I promote and the page linked in my signature gets a ton of hits, but few have spent more than 2 mins on the site. In fact, the average viewing is 58 secs. (Probably due to the fact that people are seeing the exact same sites EVERYWHERE.) Google adsense and informational sites have proved far more profitable than pushing affiliate programs--and for me, it takes several sites to pool the money that makes the living. I couldn't do it off of one. Not yet, anyway ;) The information I've learned from using these programs was key in making the others effective, though. None of them will make you rich quick with little or no effort.

You are 100% right MGB! This is taking alot of time. I think the amount of effort you put in reflects what you get out. Unfortunately it takes alot of effort. We are determined though and hopefully in time we will sweat less and make more cash! Live and learn, try and earn I suppose. Good luck to all those who try. :fish:

You know when I first saw the post it threw me for a loop, I was not sure I got it. Then I realized it was a click bank site, and it dawned on me....
Clickbank can be very good! I have some website I use clickbank on and we do pretty good with it.
We do very well with the pet ebooks from clickbank...

So are you saying you tried this "clickbank" affiliate stuff and it's not worth putting anytime into? What do you suggest? What are the google adsense and informational sites you spoke about?

CLick Bank is good. I get checks from clickbank all the time. Just be careful what products or services you promote via click bank....Make sure they seem legit...

HI
I've just started (2 Two Weeks) using the foreExenterprise scheme, it was a lot more difficult to set up than I thought and so far I have not earned any more. I decided to give it 6-8 weeks and if I do not see any returns I will have to try something else.
WISH ME LUCK:)

I guess my site would be considered informational, since it is not an affiliate site. I do use google adsense and have made a few (and I mean very few) dollars.:)
The site is relatively new (3/9/2006) and has not yet developed a great following.
In an attempt to create a website at no cost to myself, I chose to ghostwrite a few articles in response to ads on www.freelancewriting.com. Once I made enough from there, I used that money to purchase my web hosting for a year.
My goal is to put information about things that I'm interested on the site and hopefully, with quality information and some smart marketing, the site will develop a following. My immediate intent is to have the site pay for itself. Over time, hopefully I'll make a profit. So far the site is on track to pay for itself.
Since I've learned HTML by visiting various websites, I'm coding the site myself so I save on the webdesign aspect.
It's definitely not a get rich quick venture. Maybe the affiliate programs reap better rewards in a shorter period of time, but I don't know if I would enjoy it as much as I do creating my own site. Let's face it. If we're going to spend time doing something for money, might as well enjoy it. I've been the 9-5 route and had several jobs that I hated.
This is not knocking affiliate programs. I haven't actually tried one. I'd like to hear how people are doing. Who knows. Maybe two sites (1 informational and 1 affiliate) are better than one.

Tidbits and Stuff (http://www.tidbitsandstuff.com): A website that celebrates family life.
Tidbits: Great site!
Whoever asked about the clickbank not being worth the time- that isn't the meaning I intended! Click-bank is fantastic. The programs I promote are good-- it is my review site! Review sites are great, but mine is exactly like many others out there. Such a site is a good way to sort of test the waters though ;) Click-bank works especially well if you're willing to put the effort to build a mailing list and send out the information-or if you have an ezine/newsletter of some sort. I'm not willing to do that right now- maybe soon though :)
Right now, I'm playing around with adsense and informational sites. (Free info with adsense (google ads).) You can do this with blogs and free articles, if you didn't want to register a website and/or write your own. If you get your blog at blogger.com, then you're easily approved for an adsense account as well. If you're interested in doing something like that, passsmsms,
you can PM me here and I'll give you some more information on what I do. I'm no guru by any means; It is a constant learning process for me, but I can share some information with you on getting started. :)

Affliate programs are the best!

I am new to this forum but I see I can shed some light on this subject. Me and my husband have been able to work from home for the past year now with the business we are in. It all depends on what type of income you are trying to generate. One thing that I would like to point out is that if the business that you are in is not earning you a residual income then it is a job just like everyone else.
What is needed is a residual income generating business that is low cost to start up at first until you get the hang of it. I personally am involved with a huge income producing niche and am working a total of 5 businesses which now is completely free to advertise for because of the profit.
Remember you need the right training to get a home based business off the ground and of course a mentor that will show you the ropes. I am here to assist anyone if they are looking to get started in generating an income from home. I of course will not pitch my business even though it is producing a solid income but if there is something that you are looking into let me know. I have been in this for years and can tell you the good from the bad and if I do not know I can ask my husband and he 100% knows.

Yeah they really are diamondintherough. I haven't been doing it that long but if you put sufficient time into it daily you can make really good money. I would do it at least for 2 hours a day everyday. Also if you can market your product in google adwords. Best of Luck!
Hi,
I actually am doing the same thing, although I have my own business website. I sell wedding favors and advice...I have an affiliate website and found that it does work, but I am not sure for how long since it seems that they have saturated the market.

I love clickbank...good luck with your new venture!
Hi Fish,
I just started another affiliate program (I am still working with the previous one, but I am not too happy with it). I just joined a new one for free and love it! I am already seeing results and it literally explains EVERYTHING- as if you are a child- which I love. I am pretty computer literate, but not that great yet.
The previous one I joined gave me a vstore, a dollarstore, etc, but no marketing tips on how to sell these stores- I figure I am suppose to pay google or yahoo to advertise these stores. I don't even advertise my own store because of the expense!
Anyway, if you need help with your affiliate program, take a peak at the first link in my sig. Best of luck!
