Hi guys

I have been asked to do a logo for a lady, and I know how to go about putting one together. The thing is, I can freelance, but have never done it proffesionaly. How do I go about making a proffesional contract, and stating the payment I would like, and making sure I don't get "messed over" and same with the other party. I don't want to go through a whole legal thing, just to do one service, that will probably pay only 100 bucks.

I just want to make sure I do it right the first time.:)

Hi Angela,

Sorry you never got a response! How did the logo work out?

The first thing you need to do is get a business license- so that you can advertise a legitimate business, tax purposes, and liability. Then write up a proposal with what needs to be done, cost and time frame to have the work completed- also add provisions, such as what if she doesn't approve- will you redo it? Will you provide samples until she chooses a logo- what happens if she picks one and you do all the work and she changes her mind? Is it money back guarantee? What about time- will you charge her per logo or per hour- etc- this all has to be in the proposal. Once she signs it- it becomes legal binding and you protect yourself and so does she. Hope this helps!
