I'm about 95% complete with a web site I'm building for a friend.... I'm having some issues with the way it looks in Firefox (home page looks fine, but interior pages do not). Looks great in IE, which around here is 95% of users. Would love to hear your thoughts:

The site looks really good! Everything seems to be displaying correctly in Safari 2.0.3. for Mac.

I know you mentioned that you still had a little to do and I'm sure you're aware of these, but here's a couple of obvious things I saw:
- There is no content on the price list page
- There's no content or fieldnames on the contact form

I'd also consider adding an About page with some good keyword-filled content to help on the SEO side.

Thanks for the suggestions.... there are field names on the contact form... must not be displaying correctly in Safari....probably the same problem I'm having with FireFox... Here are screen shots of how it looks in IE:

And here's what it's doing in Firefox:

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the screen shots above (man, I'm batting 1000...)

I looked at the site in IE for Mac, and I'm not seeing content on either of those pages in that browser, either. Also, the home page looks a little off in IE: The images are centered correctly but the text is all left-justified on the page.

Wow.... you really don't see the screen shots? What could be the problem??? Sigh.... I don't understand... I hate cross-browser issues.

I get a "403 - Forbidden" error when trying the links.

Must just be a Mac thing.... I see them fine on my laptop, my desktop and my desktop at work.... ???? I don't know.

That's very strange. The only issues I've had with a Mac browser are when something is non-standard and doesn't adhere to WC3 guidelines. Pages may display differently, but are rarely 'broken' unless it also is 'broken in Firefox - usually because the site is doing something unique.

The main issues I have are Active X doesn't work (not a W3C standard & rife with security issues anyway) and that things may not work if a site has a weird script that checks for browser versions and is only programmed to 'recognize' IE & Netscape.

Viewing the images on your web server is about as vanilla as you get so I'm not sure why it's not working. I tried clicking on the links using both Safari and Firefox and I got the same error. I get a page with a vDeck logo and the following message: "403 forbidden - Server configuration does not allow access to this page. Please go back and try again."

It's almost like they're in a password-protected directory to which I don't have access. But they're in the root and I can access all of the HTML pages stored in the root, so obviously that's not it. I can open images stored in the /images/ directory if I copy the address from an a HTML page. Maybe the server is configured not to serve image files from the root? I can't say that I've heard of that before, but who knows?

OK, on a lark I just tried adding a 'www' in front of the address for one of the screen captures and it worked.

I checked out the webpage in a Maxthon browser and it looked great! It was very appealing to the eye, and it made me want to look a bit deeper....hummm... maybe I need some new family pictures. :)

Good luck with it!
