I just started my online business, however it is difficult to drive traffic to my website. I feel like it is a waste of having my own website as I have to take almost a month to build my site. I don't know much about internet marketing strategy.

Yep, driving traffic to your website is difficult. You need good SEO.
Perhaps you can take a look at this page:

Hi,
I would 1st go to your Profile and put a link to your site in your sig line.
How many forums do you belong to? There are so many free forums!
I made my own business cards and leave them anywhere I can. I even mail them with my payments.
If you use the same user name in all of your forums people will remember you. if you only remember my user name and type it in Google - you will be able to find a link to my site.
Here is our free forum link -

Every business takes time to build. If you are respectfull and helpfull to others you will gain ground faster.
I hope this helps. Stay positive!

Building traffic can be difficult at first and is an ongoing process. But don't worry, if you keep working at it you should start to see some noticeable gains.
There are a variety of tactics and strategies to get your site noticed and build traffic. I have an article on my site titled 5 Inexpensive and Effective Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Site (http://www.getthenetresults.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=10) that covers the basics you should begin with.
As Dan1st mentioned, registering with search engines and practicing SEO (search engine optimization) should be your next step after covering the basics. If possible, make sure your site is optimized prior to registering with the search engines. I have an article on my site called 5 Steps to Optimize Your Site for Search Engines (http://www.getthenetresults.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=4) which will help you get started.
As Sheryl also pointed out, be sure to include a link to your site in your signature line whenever you post in forums like FreelanceMom. I'd also be sure to take advantage of forums that allow you to advertise your site for free, such as FreelanceMom's Advertise Your Business (http://www.freelancemom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=68) and my Advertise Your Site (http://www.getthenetresults.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=9) forums. These are a great way to get some initial recognition of your site.
Good luck!!

It takes time. Good traffic does not happen over nite.....
Take some time out to really do some marketing....
There are several ways to get traffic to your site....Join some networking groups, post some classifieds, join some forums, ect.
I have used free classifieds for years. Now they will not bring in 1000's of visitors a day but I have got very good responce from my classified ad's.
Forums are also a great place to network and share your site with others...
Have you ever heard of Ryze? http://www.ryze.com I have been a member there like 2 years and get a good reply from there as well!

Like everyone else said, Forums are great for promotion. And the best part is they are mostly free!
Hi, Anitasarhar.
I don't see your website anywhere in your profile. That would be a great start :) People won't know about your website, unless you put it out there for them to find. Forums are a great way to advertise and probably one of the more popular ways now. You don't have to spam your links everywhere you go, but become an active part of communities that interest you and include your website link in your signature. I make money marketing affiliate programs and I'm doing quite well with it, but it is a constant learning process and I'm constantly making changes and trying new things to see what works best. There are tons of free forums out there where people actively help one another with traffic issues, seo optimization, and link exchanges.
I'm having a bit of success with something called TrafficSwarm. It is probably the nature of my business, but I'm including a link incase you want to check it out to see if it works for you. It is completely free (though there are upgrades available, they aren't necessary).

My affiliate code is included on the end. Feel free to remove it, if you like. The information is the same, regardless.
I never thought to do a press release before reading the Rich Jerk ebook (you can read about that in the review site linked in my signature. Feel free to omit the affiliate code, if it makes you feel better. ), but it is really helpful in getting the word out about your business. The company you choose to handle your release will largely depend on the type of business you're in, but it isn't usually terribly expensive and there are even a few companies that do it for free.
