Barnes and Noble is offering a free online writing course (http://http://educate.barnesandnoble.com/educate/bn/home/catalog/overview.jsp?productId=50691&z=y&nhid=bn) that starts tomorrow, April 3. You just register with them through that link and then sign up for the class.
It is recommended that you have two books for the class, "Writing for Quick Cash" and the 2006 Writer's Market. I got "Writing for Quick Cash" for $13.45 at Barnes and Noble yesterday but passed up the Writer's Market book because of the expense. I thought it was more expensive than what it was. I thought it was about $30 but I could have gotten it for $21 with my discount. It would definitely be a good book to have, though, since it lists all kinds of publications.
The last couple of posts in my writing blog (http://www.arkansasprofiles.com) have been about the class and the book so take a look.
