Great idea for a forum. The person who suggested it must be a genius or something. :P Okay, seriously, I'll take the opportunity to go first. :D

We have a new web site, Small Business Ideas (http://www.small-business-ideas.org), with a dual emphasis:

(1) Easy-to-understand financial articles for small business owners and their families.

(2) Business resources, including quick profiles of real-life entrepreneurs and business book reviews.

Hey Debby -- Why don't you submit an article for freelancemom's article section?

I'll link back to your site from there?

Let me know if it interests you,

Lori

P.S.
You'll notice I have NO finance articles!

That's a great invitation, thank you!

(1) Will it be okay that the article is authored by a dad, instead of a mom? As long as the information is helpful for work-at-home parents? You see, I'm not life insurance licensed, nor am I a financial advisor.

My husband, Steve Kobrin, is life insuranced (in all the USA, except Alaska and Hawaii). (We have to keep throwing in the licensing info, for regulatory reasons. ;)) Steve and other financial advisors (who all just happen to be male, at this time) are our authors.

(2) Please, feel free to request a specific financial topic. For example, perhaps, you'd like an article with practical financial advice for women who are starting their own business?

Debby --

It's fine if he writes it. Maybe you can add something to the bio - like --

Steve Kobrin, LUTCF, is life insurance licensed in all USA, except Alaska and Hawaii. He works out of his home office... etc. etc. ... with the help of his wife Debbi.

Know what I mean? It will create a sense of family which I really like the idea of.

Financial advice for women starting their own business would be PERFECT!

I'll look forward to reading it :)

Thanks!

Lori

Just wanted to touch base with you on the financial articles. The theme of our next newsletter (January 2004) will be practical advice on how to select financial advisors -- for small business owners and their families. I'll email you when Steve's article is completed. Thanks again! :D

Our February issue's theme will be practical financial advice for women starting their own business. Not sure yet, what our March theme will be. Any suggestions?

Rest assured, we will link back to your site. I haven't been able to do any web work for almost a month, now. For a few weeks, my hard drive was close to crashing -- my computer had slowed down so much, that it was taking almost 30 minutes just to get my desktop!

The new hard drive finally arrived, and I replaced the old one. Installed the OS. Installed NAV (antivirus). Went online to update my virus definitions -- but did NOT install the firewall, first. I thought, "oh, I'm just going to symantec's site. I should be okay." Well, I got a worm within moments of going online.

It took a full day, just to resolve that. Big lesson. You bet I installed my firewall, before going back online.

Then, I spent a couple of days installing all the OS critical updates and service packs from Micro$oft. There were about 20 of them!

Then, I spent a couple of days trying to set up the network, again, between Steve's computer and mine. All my files are on his computer. Finally got that to work.

Now, I came down with this cold-on-steroids ("mother of all colds"). Haven't been able to install any of my web dev applications, yet. Of course, here I am, visiting FreelanceMoms. ;)

Ah well. I better get going. See you later! :D

Hi Debby,

I WONDERED where you had been... It's unfortunate to hear that it wasn't on vacation!

I hope that you saw the small plug on FreelanceMom's homepage this month for your business... http://www.freelancemom.com. I sincerely hope it brings you some good traffic.

Regarding the article(s)... Can I get them both? Or is that too pushy? LOL. Both months themes sound terrific. Just let me know. Of course you'll get full credit and a link over to your site.

Sorry to hear about the computer trouble, I've been there! And especially am sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well :(

Thanks for stopping by in spite of it.

Drink you juice!

Lori

Thank you! That's just fantastic. Will you place a plug every month, for that month's top posters? That's great motivation for me. :D

You bet your sweet bippy, you can! :D

Thanks for the good thoughts. I'm still working on my computer. Tonight, I've installed MS Office 2000, and I'm working on installing the updates (4 down, about 6 left to go).

Friday was day 8 for my sore throat, so I went to the doctor for a strep test. It was negative. :D I still have laryngitis, which isn't such a big deal. I'm drinking plenty of juice and pampering myself with lots of sleep. I work on the computer only when I'm confident that I'm fully "awake." ;)
