A nonprofit organization has asked me to take over their quarterly 12-page newsletter. I would do everything from the writing to the photographs to the layout, and they'll take care of the printing. There aren't any ads, which is good since I don't do advertising!

I'm sure they can't pay me what I want but I feel sure we can work something out. What would be a good asking price. I prefer to work by the job but I don't know how much work this will entail since I haven't done it before. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

As it turns out this nonprofit is going to pay me more than twice what I was willing to do the job for! I gave them a proposal and had another one with the price I was expecting to be accepted but didn't even pull that one out. The price we agreed on was 200 more than what the first proposal called for. It's a quarterly publication.

This has been going really well! I've picked up another quarterly newsletter for a nonprofit since then and was better equipped to submit a good proposal for the job.

Good that everything worked out fine! Pricing is always difficult... :)
