Hello Everyone!! I am new to the Freelance world. I was laid off last October and was 4 months pregnant at the time. I decided then that it was time to take my skills and work for myself. Getting business off the ground has been slow and I'm facing having to place my new baby in daycare and join the work force again. If anyone has suggestions for getting work flow moving I would be indebted.
I have three years of Administrative experience and ten years plus of retail and Customer Service. My rates are very reasonable and flexible.
Please check out my website any suggestions are very welcome.
I look forward to networking and problem solving with everyone.
Thanks and have a wonderful day!!
:flower: Hi Renee!
Thanks for joining us. Your website looks really great, and the pricing is certainly reasonable. What have you done to promote your services? Have you tried to advertise locally or joined a job site like www.elance.com?
What type of Operating System and software do you use? Please feel welcome to add your resume here: http://www.freelancemom.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=35
All the best!

I have advertised in our local newspaper and I recieved no business from that, I have also sent out direct mail fliers also to no avail. I have not joined elance or anything along those lines due to financial reasons.
I am using XP Pro and Office 2003.
Would you recommend adding my software and OS info to my website?
Renee

I would definitely recommend adding that to your site. Any resources that you have available are good selling points...

Hi! Congratulations on the baby.
I have to tell you that the main thing in this business is to keep yourself from getting discouraged. It was (and still often is) a struggle to make a decent living as a VA. I started out using Elance, when it was a lot more reasonable, but it is still very necessary to get a few projects under your belt and then start getting referrals.
Referrals are really the life blood of this business. I haven't done any serious advertising in about a year, and yet, I continue to find work. Someone knows someone who knows me...you get the idea.
But I have to tell you, it is very possible to survive and thrive. Lori calls me a WAHM guru and I don't know if that is the case, however, I am making a very comfortable living doing what I do, and staying home with my children.
Best of luck!
Debbi
