Hi Latoya,

I've never used the sites you've listed. I know odesk pays on the low side so they tend to accept bids that are in the low range.

When you say proposals, do you mean you're placing bids?

Latoya,

I've always had good success with elance (http://www.elance.com/p/providers/index.html?rid=XJRC)...

Also - here are some tips on bidding on freelance job boards (http://freelancemom.com/blog/2007/04/16/freelancers-here-are-some-tips-for-bidding-on-jobs/).

I've never gotten a nibble from Guru, either.

You know what I found a good site called odesk and gotten like 2 invites so far. ONe of them got cancelled and the other one I am in there. I hope that this works out. I will stay within my freelance career :) I've never gotten a nibble from Guru, either.

I have found a lot of work through ads on craigslist.com, journalismjobs.com and mediabistro.com.

However, on craigslist I do sometimes run into scams.

Guru.com and sites like it have never worked for me.

Thank you soo much for that information. I might end up cancelling guru.com. I will definitely check those out. ;) I have found a lot of work through ads on craigslist.com, journalismjobs.com and mediabistro.com.

Erika,
We use guru, getafreelancer and odesk to source providers. We have had much success with each site. As a provider, it helps if you have referrals or have completed several projects. When you respond to the request make sure you address the needs of the project. I know...getting the first project is hardest :walk:

Much success...hang in there! :thumb:

Have a huggable day,

Fig
