hello ladies.

I am looking for more freelance work and I have applied on guru, elance and getafreelancer (don't use this very much) and I have gotten some odd jobs. But when I submitted about 4 proposals on guru, not yet really a response and make it better, I am good in their expertise. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to choose me??? Would appreciate your response. Thanks. ;)

Hello. Sounds like you've hit a bit of a road block. Have you tried oDesk yet? I've been getting steady freelance jobs through their network for almost a year.

I'd recommend setting up an account there (it's free, which is a plus) and working on building a nice portfolio to help you stand out from the competition. oDesk also offers tons of free tests and certifications that you can take to showcase your skills and make you more marketable.

Lastly, make sure you're sending a cover letter with each application, and make sure it's tailored to the job you are applying for. Pay close attention to the job description and specifically mention certain skills or specialties that the hiring manager is looking for, and you'll likely land an interview and hopefully the job!

Feel free to PM me if there are any questions I can answer for you. Hope this helps!

There are several resources/sites available, other than above, for finding freelance/WAH jobs including referrals and repeat clients. Anyhow, here are some ways to get better prospects to become a successful bidder.

1. Make sure you have a killer profile with multiple business sites, example.
2. Place samples of your work, testimonials or short videos of your work.
3. Read and understand what the clients want/expect from the bidder.
4. Quote reasonable prices with payment schedules.
5. Try to bid where you have expertise.

IMO, sites like craigslist.com or servana.com could easily help you in your search. The main reason being there are a lot of qualified pros and not very much competition. Hope this helps you grab the opportunities.

I'm sure you know this but do you write for sites like www.associatedcontent.com, www.ehow,com, www.seed.com, etc?

Most of the people just want some proofs for your past works so be sure to publish them.

Try Demandstudios.com :bugeye:

They actually require a resume and application when signing up. It's freelance work but the pay is actually pretty darn good unlike associated content.

Try applying, although their acceptance requirements might be kind of high.
