Does anyone own or use a Tablet for graphic design? I'm looking to purchase one, but know absolutely nothing about them.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Jennifer

Jennifer:

I use a Wacom Graphire and would highly recommend it. The Graphire series are about $100 and are a good way to get your feet wet with using a tablet. When I finally upgrade my Mac, I may also upgrade to a Wacom Intuos tablet.

A few years ago, the Mac User Group I was a member of had a rep from Wacom do a demo. One great tidbit he passed on is that Wacom sells the tablets reps use for demos and tradeshows at a discount. You should keep an eye on their site for these refurb units if you are interested in an Intuous or Cintiq.

Do you know what the difference is between the Intuos and the Graphire?
Thanks so much!
Also, where would you recommend I check for a reburbished one? On the Wacom.com website? Thanks!

The two main differences between the Intuos and the Graphire is that the Intuos has a more sensitive drawing area and the Intuos is available in larger sizes. The Intuos has some other bells-and-whistles, but sensitivity and size are the most important differences.

As for refurbed tablets, go to http://wacomdirect.wacom.com/wacomdirect/ and click on "Refurbished Tablets". I saw they had several different Intuos models to choose from.
