For those that have teens, do you get up in the middle of the night when they need to talk? I've lost many hours of sleep to talk with my daughter who was upset at the time.
You are one smart Mama, Audrey! The answer is YES!! When our oldest two were early teens we also had two babies. Really tough to find uninterrupted time to talk!! Sometimes the older ones would go to bed while we got the babies to sleep. Around mid-night we would wake them up for a hot-and-heavy game of monopoly into the wee hours of the morning. Without question, it was worth the sleep deprivation just to stay connected!
Nani - what really fun memories you made with that simple act. I love it!
I really worry about my teen son because he is so much older than the rest of the kids. Mine range from 17 to 2...
I'm going to try your idea :)
Let me know how it goes--after you get some sleep...! :-)

I just returned from an overseas trip to visit my daughter. Oh goodness, what she did to my sleep LOL. We napped for 3 hours like from 9am until 12 noon. We were up till 3am etc. Oh goodness. Now, I'm home since last night and can't stop sleeping.
I talk to my daughter at night also.. its one of the best times and Only time I get to talk to her..
The other thing I have found... when my teen wants to talk - nothing is more important.
The times that he really wants to share seem rare... I'm trying to remember that and stop pretty much anything to give him my full attention when he initiates conversation.

Help please.. My daughter [13 turning 14 on June] had her first menstruation last Jan. 26, '09.. But until now, her menstruation is not yet followed.. Is it normal? She is soo worried about herself.. So do I.. She is so ashamed when talking about that "girl thing" and she became a loner.. Please help me! :wall:
I'd talk with her pediatrician -- and not worry too much :)
