Has anyone managed to switch off the double opt-in in their AWeber avccount once it has been switched on?

(Or found another solution that I am not aware of please?)

Thanks in anticipation.

I use get response and the double opt in is a requirement.

I lost a ton of my list when I switched from vertical response, but it also really cleaned up my list. No more robot spam opt ins!

Sorry - no help but just felt like commenting :D

Hi Chris,

To be clear, I don't find it effects my opt-in rate. That actually has increased and I hardly have any unsubscribes ever, so I really think the double optin is a value.

But what happened to me was that to import my old list into Get Response I had to send out an initial mailing asking people to resubscribe. This is where I lost a ton of people.

In retrospect I would offer a bonus to people if they went through with the optin again. I think that might help :)

With the double opt-in, whether starting a list from scratch or importing an existing one, you end up with a much better quality list and much lower likelihood that you'll get people reporting your emails as spam.

I use AWeber and I've never had a problem with people having to double opt in. One of my lists has over 1000 subscribers with a very very low unsubscribe rate.

Hi Lori
Yes, I have a very low unsubscribe rate too. I like the idea of a bouns for re-subcribing an inported list. We all lose tons when we have to do that I think.

Hi Kevin
Good point re spam. Thanks

Hi Audrey
Yes, we can still get big lists but there are a significant number who drop out at the double opt-in stage. It's those people I want to try to keep.

Thanks to you all for your advice.
