So the 4th of July just passed and I have to tell everyone that I made some grilled Shrimp on my own and they came out really good! I'm a bit proud of myself because I had never grilled anything on my own. Do any of you ladies like to grill as well?

My Hubby does all our grilling outside. He loves to BBQ. Of course, I let him and usually fix some things to go with it. :)

I've never tried grilled shrimp. I'm glad it turned out well for you.

Thanks, so you've never had grilled shrimp? Its really good. If your DH wants to try this recipe it sounds really good I haven't tried it YET :D I got it from Safeways grilling website http://grilling.safeway.com/index.cfm

Salt and Sugar Shrimp Kabobs

* 1 tbsp. kosher salt
* 2 tbsp. O Organics™ sugar
* 2 lbs. (31 to 40 per lb.) frozen raw, shelled, deveined, tail-on Captain’s Choice Shrimp, thawed, rinsed, and drained
* 10 10-in. metal or wooden skewers
* 1/4 cup O Organics™ Extra Virgin Olive Oil
* 3 tbsp. Safeway Lemon Juice
* 1 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
* Lemon wedges

1. In a large bowl, mix together salt and sugar. Add shrimp and stir to coat evenly. Cover bowl and chill at least 45 minutes or up to 2 hours.

2. If using wooden skewers, put them in a shallow pan with water to cover and soak at least 20 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare a gas or charcoal grill for direct, high heat (you can hold your hand 1 to 2 in. above the cooking grate only 2 to 3 seconds; visit our Grilling Essential section for complete instructions).

3. While grill heats, rinse shrimp well and pat dry. Drain wooden skewers. Thread shrimp in a C shape onto skewers.

4. Lay skewers in a rimmed pan. In a glass measuring cup, combine oil, lemon juice, and garlic; pour over shrimp and turn skewers to coat evenly. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes.

5. Lay shrimp on cooking grate; cover gas grill. Cook, turning occasionally with tongs, until shrimp are bright pink on the outside and opaque but still moist-looking in center of thickest part (cut to test), about 5 minutes.

6. Transfer skewers to a platter. Serve with lemon wedges to squeeze over shrimp.

We make skewers for the BBQ. We put shrimp, pineapple, onion and bell peppers. We then marinate them in teriyaki for about 30 minutes, throw themo n the BBQ and enjoy them :)

Yes, I'm a grillin gal! :shades:
My sweetie will grill with the gas grill, but I do the grilling on the charcoal grill. I enjoy it. I love the aroma and I'm a big fan of hot weather. He's dying if it's 70 degrees outside.

My mom just made some super tasty skewered shrimp on the 4th. I think she marinated them in olive oil, lemon juice, zest, garlic and some type of mixed seasoning. They were YUMMY!!!!! They tasted like shrimp scampi grilled. Pretty similiar to Pixie Pink's recipe without the sugar.

They sure were! I'll try and remember to ask her what seasoning she used and how long she marinated them for.

There's also some grilling tips on the website I gave. Sometimes I need some pointers :huh: But there's things like the difference between charcoal grilling and gas grilling, and whether or not you should keep the lid off while grilling. So maybe theres some tips you ladies can find helpful ;)
