Work from home can be soooo frustrating!
First thing is that there are so many things out there that you don't know what is real and what isn't.
Plus, with so many other responsibilities, it's hard to have the time to really research.
I would like to find something that is legitimate to help me supplement my income but it seems to be a needle in a haystack!
Help! :dunno:

What are you looking for? Are you looking for a job or home business, affiliate program etc.? There are some obvious tell-tale signs that are scams. Anything that promises you a large income in the shortest amount of time is a scam. For jobs, never pay for registration or training materials fees. Jobs require skills and experience, interview and a resume.
Regardless if you don't have a lot of time, research is extremely important. Work at home forums are a good place to ask these questions, checking with the Better Business Bureau and FTC are other places to check up on companies.
So what would you like to do to supplement your income? Give us some idea so we can guide you in the right direction.

I'd like to throw a few things out for you to consider:
1. Do you have 3 hours per day to "research?" That is only 15 hours per week. If your answer is no, that's ok, but then I wonder how you'll have time to work once you do find something?
2. What specifically are you wanting to do? Do you want to answer phones for a call center? Do you want to write blog posts for pay? Do you want direct sales? Do you want to sell on ebay? Do you want to run a service based business such as organizing, billing, transcription, bookkeeping, pet sitting, etc?
I think the answers to these two questions will help lead you down a path to a way to make money for yourself :)

Patience and perseverance is very important. It's really hard and frustrating at first but soon you will see that all your hard work will pay off.

I know the feeling! It took me 3 years, and I finally found stuff I can actually make money in, but after all the hard work, going through scam, after scam, and paying money, (I learned the HARD way) I now have my hubby all over me about businesses. I know from experience they are out there, but like the other ladies here said, it does take time, and perserverence, I was so determined, and it took me 3 years to find the ones I am doing! Good luck with your search though, they are out there!! :sun:

I hope that u were able to find something. It seems to me that if you have time constraints then you have to take that into consideration too. How much time can you truly dedicate to finding a second income?

It has taken a while for me to read through all the wonderful threads on this board, but this one really struck a chord with me.
I've been ready to scream every morning when I open my e-mail and find scads of ads for 'easy work', 'earn money while you sleep', 'work in your jammies' etc, etc....
First of all, I'm not looking for 'easy work'. I want 'REAL work'!! :protest:
Second, I don't for a second believe that I can earn money while I sleep, and even if I could, where would be the satisfaction that comes with doing a hard day's work for a fair day's pay?
And work in my jammies??? With all the nice clothes I have?
Sigh.....I understand the urge to scream. I need real work, not a lot of hype!

I know exactly what you mean. I can't count the number of times I've been scammed and the amount of money I've lost. It took me 2 1/2 years before I figure out I could build informational websites about things i was interested in and make money doing it. I don't know if it's something you would be interested in but I like it. Good luck to you.

I think I said it here before, but when I was looking for something part time to give me basically gas money, I checked out everyone's signatures on the boards that I visited.
That gave me some ideas as to what I wanted to persue.

I agree, it's tough. One thing to keep in mind is that those trying to sell you a job is actually just selling. They want to make the money and don't care if you do.
The best advice I can give is to not even bother looking online for opportunities. The real good ones are all taken and the rest just want to make themselves a buck (which is probably all they do make).
I'd suggest you get away from the computer and spend some time in the library reading as much as you can. That's how I decided on logo design after seeing an article on business image in a magazine. If you look through all the ads, articles and books on business you'll start to get a more realistic overall picture of what is out there.
I know it's easy to say, 'spend time reading' when time is limited, but it may only take you a few months of flipping through material. Much better than years online with trial and error and scams. At least the library is free.
The best business ideas haven't even been thought of.
Good luck,
Kira
