Hey everyone!

I hope you're all doing well and writing away like crazy! As for me, I've got some great news to share!

First, if you read the other thread, I mentioned a company that called me one morning and wanted to order 500 copies of one of my booklet titles. That was exciting, wasn't it? But it just got better - A LOT BETTER!!!

You see, a couple of weeks went by and I never got a check. So, finally, yesterday I contacted the company and asked if they were still planning to place an order, as I hadn't seen a check yet. "We're just trying to decide," came the reply, "whether to just buy copies for this office, or for all eight of our offices." ALL EIGHT!!! OMG!!! This company came to me as a referral, and I had no idea they had more than one office! So, keep your fingers crossed for me on this one!

Now, I've got some even better news. In that other thread, I think I also mentioned a national company that has taken an interest in the booklet. They want to include it in their product packaging. I finally got a number from them as to how many they need - are you sitting down??? They need 600,000!!! No kidding! SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND!!! I knew they would need alot, but to hear an actual number just does something to me, especially one as high as that!

So, while I'm waiting for the first company to make up their mind as to how many offices will receive booklets, and while I'm hammering out the details of the 600,000 booklet deal with the second company, I've decided to get myself into even higher gear and move forward with two spin-offs of that booklet. The great thing about the spin-offs is that I don't need a new market to sell them to. I can sell them to my current market, and hopefully triple my accounts with some of my clients. And the spin-offs won't take me long to write because much of the information can be taken from the booklet I already have published. I do everything I can to leverage my writing, and this is a great way to do that.

Oh, one last thing. I have been working to put together a product and website for other writers who want to learn to do what I do - write booklets and sell them like crazy to huge quantity buyers. It's taking some time to get it all done, but I'm not one to sit and let the grass grow. So, I'm starting a new blog for writers who are interested in discovering more about my experiences with booklet writing. I'm starting that blog as soon as I leave here, so I'll put the link in my sig here just as soon as I have it. The website will disappear from my sig (it isn't for writers anyway), and you'll have the link to the writer's blog in its place.

I hope some of you will visit me on the blog. I'll be watching for you!

Take care and keep writing!

Thanks, Michelle! I'm pretty excited. But, I'm trying to keep my head on straight too, at least until everything is signed, sealed and delivered!

I spent all afternoon just trying to choose a platform for the new blog. I decided to go with wordpress. I'm using their hosting, which is supposed to be really easy to set up. We'll see. If it works, the url will be kimhillman.wordpress.com.

Thanks again for the congrats. Set a goal and stay fixed on it, and you'll get there!

I'll look forward to seeing you at my new blog!

I'll be looking for your blog. I don't see myself becoming a professional write but I sure could use some writing tips!

Best wishes,

That is fantastic news Kim! Can you say what topic these booklets are on?

Wordpress is really easy to use -- although my preference is to host it myself because there is more flexibility with modifications, add-ons and most importantly search engine optimization.

Let us know when it's up! And don't be shy to write an article for FreelanceMom with a plug in it Kim ;)

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for all your congrats and support. It really makes my day!

Dawn ~ you don't have to be a professional writer to do what I do. That's the beauty of it. I wrote this title in 3 days! Most people who see a copy of it think I spent a long time researching and writing. Nope! But let's keep this our little secret, ok?

Lori ~ The title of the booklet is "Simple Tips & Recipes For Feeding The Gluten Free/Dairy Free Child." While there are several books out on this subject, they're all pretty boring and overwhelming when you're just starting out. I originally wrote this booklet for my own extended family, because my son is on the diet and they never know what to feed him. But, I own a publishing company (Up & At 'Em Publications) which publishes booklets for other businesses to promote their products and services, so it was a natural progression for the booklet to be published and promoted. Now I'm working on ways to fill out our inventory at Up & At 'Em, and I want to help other writers who are interested in doing what I am doing - writing booklets and selling them in huge quantities. I've still got some details to work out, so I decided to start the blog for now and things will progress from there.

Oh, and speaking of the blog, I debated between blogger and wordpress. The blog at Up & At 'Em is hosted on the site, but it takes my coder a while to get things done and I didn't want to wait for him. So, I decided on a wordpress blog hosted at their site. I'm probably about the least technically inclined person on the planet, so when it comes to modifying anything or adding plug ins, I just don't. I'll just make sure whatever template I choose has the features I need. I spent several hours yesterday playing with them. But today I want to have it done. I'll announce it here when it's finished.

Hmmmm....an article for FreelanceMom. Great idea! Now why didn't I think o that? :D

Tammy ~ Thanks, and I'll look forward to seeing you on the blog! I'm calling it Writing For Riches With Booklets. What do you think?

Ok. Now I've got some work to do! Gotta get that blog up!

Hi Kim,

It's looking good so far to me. :D

When I have more time ( I have to run out for awhile today), I'll fill out the form and make a comment on it.

You're doing great!! Keep up the good work. :t9:

Thanks, Tammy. I've got zero technical skill, but this was pretty easy to do. If I had the know how, I probably would have had the blog hosted somewhere else. But, the main thing was to get it up, and that's done. It seems a little plain, but I doubt anyone will care much what it looks like, as long as the information is of interest. I will be adding photos now and then, so that will add to the ambiance too.

Anyway, I'm glad you like and I look forward to your comment there!
