I have finally realized just how old my computer is. I bought a new one along with an external hard drive. When I went to transfer the data, well it's been about 30 hours now and it's not done. I'm on a borrowed computer right now. I'm told by my IT friend that my old computer is USB 1.0 not 2.0 like the new computer, thus the huge time factor.

Well that really stinks. Were you able to get it to all download eventually?

Dawn,
It all downloaded. When we got home last night, it was already 10 pm. I worked on the new machine until about 11pm and then called it a night. So, right now I'm on the old machine, but we're making progress. I'm bound and determined to do this myself.

Hey Audrey,
I didn't know you bought a new computer. Congrats! :)
Glad all the data transferred over.

Audrey,
Thank Goodness it all downloaded. Technology is a beautiful thing but can be such a pain sometimes! I bought a new computer in April and was so excited to get it going only to deal with Vista bugs and STILL have not been able to resolve a Norton issue after spending several hours with them on the phone on 2 separate occasions!
Good luck to you.

I have one "issue" left and that's my old email. I really want to transfer it to the new computer.

Hmmmmm, what were you running it on? I've always had Yahoo and MSN so I can obviously access it anywhere. Why can't you import/export it? It just won't work?

I had outlook express, I now have the full version of outlook. Last night I was able to export my address to a csv file, then import that to my new email. So, I have email address. What I don't have is all the saved mail I had.
Oh -- I have had to do this before Audrey... Have you seen this tutorial?

Thanks Lori. I'm pretty pleased with myself. I did everything else myself. I think I like this new computer. I'm kind of holding my breath as it's Vista. But I'm loving the new speed. My old computer was about 6 years old and in computer years, that's old.
