What are your kids doing this summer? My daughter graduates next week and then leaves to be a counselor at a camp. She is so excited. What will your kids do this summer?

My kids are grown and gone but summers used to be a real challenge for me. It seems like the minute school was out, it was one big fight! Plus they really had the mentality that just because they were out of school, that it was one big fun day, all summer. It seem like it was such a battle that chores and work do go on, even tho they're out of school.

On the fun side tho (I do this now with the grandkids), I always want to do at least one "mud day". Where we take trucks, shovels, etc and just go play in the mud somewhere. I grew up on a river and LOVED playing in the mud all summer. Guess that's where my love of gardening started.

Hey Audrey,

As you know...my only child is grown and moved out. He and his fiance are getting ready for their wedding on August 2. This weekend they are planning the big parties for the bachelor/bachelorette. I know Sunday morning there will be lots of people with hang overs! LOL! :zrazz:

Seriously, things are moving along nicely and (for the most part) pretty organized.

Except the bride has had to do a lot of organizing for her own bridal shower and bachelorette party. :dunno: The best man and maid of honor are not doing exactly what they should be doing I guess. But, I sure don't want to over-step in this area...with me being the Mother-In-Law.

The bid day is almost here! Yikes!
Very excited! :D

I just have a toddler and am expecting #2. We went to a family reunion at Branson, MO recently. Mostly we're just hanging out. We go to the playground when I feel like it.

This year - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! LOL - I have a summer plan of just being laid back, taking walks on the beach, reading, crafts, and just anything else that is fun. I didn't want to fill my summer with things to do this year.

Mary Ann,

My second eldest daughter got married last weekend. So beautiful to present her to the young man and watch the beauty of the 2 become 1.

It was such an emotional event for me that I finally lost it...All I could think about was the blessed diadem I carefully and delicately removed from my crown and placed within his as a priceless jewel...But such is the bitter-sweet beginning of the 2 becoming 1 before the eyes of a loving father's heart.

Right before they left, I grabbed my son and whispered, 'Adam...His strength is perfect...' Looking deep into his eyes; a word in due season.

I know the feeling. My only child, my baby girl, got married in 2005 to her childhood sweetheart. It was a blessing to pass her to a man I know loves her and takes such good care of her.

I am happy to say they are expecting their first child in January

Well, I have a newborn... Goodness, I guess he's not a "newborn" anymore. He's almost 6 months old now. :) We've just been staying inside where it's cool when we can, enjoying him being little. :)
