WTD: Creative, Fast, Idealistic Web Desginer (HTML capable) for Application (not just typical website--see Requirement 2 below)
Snapshot: Web designer with exper doing Applications (not just websites) wtd ASAP:
40-50hr job (that could lead to more), ideally fulltime, or at least 25hrs/wk and able to start IMMEDIATELY and to work for significantly less than usual rate at first, given social venture and startup nature of our venture, with double usual rate on back end.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A social venture startup called LOVE-INSURE™ , that gives you as the designer a unique opportunity to save the planet, love, and democracy all in one project.
Love-Insure™, is a consumer software startup whose post tax profits will be going to organizations and activists working to bring more democracy to America and to stopping global warming, as well as some urgent human rights causes plus one of your favorite causes.
Love-Insure™ is a breakthrough web application, now in beta-test, that provides couples (especially those 35-40% of couples unhappy with their marriages and/or committed relationships) with what we believe will be the internet tool of choice for ensuring, enriching, strengthening, and thereby divorce and affair-proofing committed relationships today.
CURRENT SITUATION The basic web-ap has already been developed by our web developer (coder) and the founder (me), Gary Krane, has been successful in raising funds for many prior projects ($1..5 million) primarily in the nonprofit area. Bio and refs available. We have started to raise funds yet for this project. We currently have two promising entres to angel funders and a pitch meeting scheduled with major internet player early next year. We are based in Oakland and So Bay, but you could work out of anywhere
COMPENSATION: $1000-1400 initially for the work in three installments, then $2000-4000 on the backend as angel funding or revenue from sale or royaltes arrives (whichever is first); plus option to be hired for spinoffs and later revisions or different versions requested by later strategic partners if the working relationship is mutually satisfying.
REQUIREMENTS [be sure to respond to each of these in your reply, numbering your responses accordingly]
1) Highly competent with HTML, creatively gifted designer, fast, good at getting free or low cost photos of couples; etc
2) One or two example(s) of well designed, creative, sites that show WEB BASED APPLICATIONS (as opposed to typical websites): Unlike most websites, the flow of an application website is different. Sites require less user interaction and focus. Our application monitors individuals interactions and should should be intuitive to the user and alert them to the crucial information quickly (the eye should be drawn to what we need the user to seeAND THEN DO, by the visual tension created on the page or in the section). You should be familiar with the AJAX philosophy of design.
he application has been done in Stylesheet and in asp, with a database.
3) Coding has already been done, but big plus if you have some development skills in case need to revise and our original engineer cannot do fast enough turn around as beta test feedback comes in requiring little improvements (mostly text changes))
4) able to start Right away and work fulltime just on our project
5) easy to work with (willing to take calls often in case i am not near a computer)
6) strong desire to help keep committed relationship together, ,happy, vibrant and strong, prevent needless affairs or divorces
7) Idealistic/progressive track record (ie you've helped out underdog causes)
8) Optional (not necessary) if can demonstrate ability to add humor to site
DUTIES:
1) an imaginative home page design to give the ap a great look and feel, and most user-friendly flow, hoping that the design might also help us reduce the amount of text at the start
2) templates for rest of the sight
3) possible modification of our logo
4) Finding and adding public domain or free photos of couples (more realistic, the better), 3 colored graphic(s) or humorous photos, improvement on background, font, borders, improvement in alignment and look of type, background, and whatever other creative ideas you can come up with.
5) Change text as feedback comes in
6) We hope we already have the navigation down though may need to add one or two elements.
PREFERABLE THOUGH NOT REQUIRED (and extra pay for this) if you have developer/coding abilities yourself: addition of other features as feedback from more beta test couples comes in
