Hi everyone. I'm new to freelancemom.com, and I'm so excited to be here. I stumbled across this site while searching for freelance job opportunities, and I can't believe there's a site this cool out there. It's such an awesome, inspiring environment. I love networking with other freelance moms, learning from their experiences, sharing ideas and advice, and getting inspiration from other WAHMs who are making it work.
A little about me: I'm a relatively new mom. I have a son, Benjamin, who just turned 1 on March 5. I can't believe how fast time flies -- how can he be one already?! He is such an incredible blessing - the most amazing baby. I got so lucky. He's perfect in every way (not that I'm biased or anything!), and motherhood is an awe-inspiring experience. The best thing I've ever done and ever will do. But I know I'm preaching to the choir right now.
I do have my own graphic design business called Creative Rx. My website is at www.creativerx.com. My portfolio is at www.creativerx.com/portfolio/index.htm. I do everything from print design (brochures, posters, postcards, annual reports, flyers, etc) to web design and web programming to design of banner ads, icons, custom illustrations to corporate id design (business cards, logos, letterhead, etc.). I also provide consultation services, Internet marketing and SEO services, as well as photography and copywritiing services. I'm definitely a jack (or jill) of all trades.
I've been freelancing for quite some time now. However, it has unfortunately been something I've done as a side business on top of my full-time corporate design job. I've wanted to take the plunge into full-time freelancing for a while now, but the fear and insecurity has held me back. Of course now, more than ever (as you can imagine), the desire to take that leap into the great unknown and follow my bliss is greater than ever. Not only do I want to do what I love full-time, but I want to be with the one I love (my precious baby boy) full-time.
I'm within inches of stepping off the cliff and freefalling into this scary, but exhillerating world of freelance. I just need a tiny push. I'm looking for inspiration and motivation -- the courage to know I can do it and make it work. I'm hoping to find that here. I'm also hoping to network and build up enough contacts so that it's not such a scary proposition. Thanks to everyone in advance for your help and for considering me for any jobs you might need help with. I look forward to meeting each of you and getting to know what seems like a phenomenal group of talented women.
