Information Appliance Associates is the leading sync solution company for Mac users who want to connect with a wide variety of powerful personal digital devices OTHER than palm, and want to do that with a wide variety of contact management software. Our PocketMac programs let Mac users sync contact, calendar, tasks and notes with Pocket PCs, Windows Mobile devices, BlackBerry, iPod and even the PSP! For five years and going strong, these programs are so popular that our staff is growing again.
Skills Needed:
Power User in Macintosh OS 10.3/10.4. Familiar with Entourage, iCal, Mail, Address Book, and other PIMs. Now Contacts, Now Up to Date, DayLite, Meeting Maker and Lotus Notes a major Plus. Familiar with personal digital assistant devices (PDAs) and cell phones with PDA features is required. Strong telephone skills, responsive communicator, self-starter, multi-tasker. Customer service database experience a plus.

NOTE: This is not a high-level technical position: we're looking for Tier 1 support for users of our PDA synchronization software, most of whom need help with installation and registration of serial numbers. We are looking for a long-term, stable contractor who works well independently. Perfect opportunity for students or people who prefer to work from home.
Qualifications:

* At least one year of support/help desk experience over the phone and email
* Excellent customer service skills
* Excellent organizational, time-management and follow-up skills
* Power User of Macintosh OS 10.3/10.4, Mail, Microsoft Entourage, iCal, Address Book, Now, DayLite, Meeting Maker and other PIMs, and the Internet
* Experience with Windows XP & 2000 as well.
* Experience using cell phones with PDA features and PDAs.
* Must have own Macintosh Computer with Mac OS 10.3 or 10.4 and a telephone line that can be used for business calls.
* Ownership of Windows 2000/XP machine a plus (not required).
* Ability to work independently from home
* Able to set regular business hours that can be advertised to customers on the web site for reliable service.
* High-speed Internet Access and instant messenger service (AIM).

Responsibilities:

* Support users during installation and early usage of all company proprietary programs via email, phone and web.
* Make sure all customer queries have responses within 1 business day. Targeting 1 hour as our goal.
* Occasional testing of new versions, including writing up test reports for the developers
* Entries in proprietary support tracking database
* Relay customer information, wishes, suggestions and ideas to developers
* Write up bugs for programmer to repair
* Keep track of and follow up with individual customers on bugs and resolutions that affect those users.
* Work with team to discuss issues and experiences, back each other up, etc.
* Weekly team conference call to discuss business plans, development, test plans, etc.
* Team training (intense at first during orientation) over the phone and in IM. No limits on this: it's continual.

* Independent Contractor Position

* You pay your own taxes (you are your own business owner)
* Remember to set your bill rate such that you can meet those additional responsibilities

What Happens Next: What to Expect from Us
We'll be at MacWorld next week (with Research in Motion #2583). Therefore, we'll be quietly collecting responses for a week and a half, and our autoresponder will confirm that we have received your submission. Then, our Operations Manager will contact you during the week of January 16, 2006 to arrange a phone interview to discuss your qualifications and contract specifics.
