Answering the Phone

Do you answer the phone to unknown callers? I do not answer my home phone unless I know who's on the other end. My cell phone, since I use it for business, I'll answer even if I don't know who is calling. What about you?

Of course I do on my cell phone though and no, I don't answer my cell phone if it's an unknown caller.

Our home number is also our business line, so we make it a point to answer it no matter what the number is, just in case it's a customer. Unfortunately, that means we have to answer for all the solicitors. For a while there we were getting almost daily phone calls of an answering machine trying to sell us something. My husband and I would always hang up as soon as we realized it was that, but after about a month or so of this I finally listened all the way to the end of the recorded message and realized there was a number you could press to "unsubscribe" yourself from their calling list. Thank goodness I waited til the end or we would be having these calls forever :-)

I don't even usually answer if I know the caller :)

For my home phone, unknown numbers almost always go to the answering machine for screening. My cell phone always gets answered - I use it for church and for Tupperware.

We do pretty much like everyone else here ... if the number doesn't show up on the landline we don't answer it. If it shows up and I don't recognize the number but it is an area code within the state I will answer. Pretty much the same for the cell phone.

I always pick up everytime someone calls because you'll never know maybe it is an important call. You can always hang up if the caller really is just making fun of you.. :)

Because I use my cell phone for business, I answered the phone yesterday afternoon. It showed a local phone number, so I wrongly thought it might be a potential customer. It was not. It was not a call I would've chosen to answer. At least I stored the number and won't answer again :)

I'm pretty busy most of the time. I like returning phone calls on my time. I usually set a an hour twice a day to return phone calls. I only answer phone calls if its real important, and when its my wife.........LOL.

I always pick up the phone when it rings. You may never know if that call is an important one like an emergency phone call from a family member or friend.

we have 4 lines, all of which are home/business, so we have to answer. Plus being in a home based business has caused me to look at telemarketers etc. a little differently - be nice, pick up the phone and just say no, you may save someone some precious time that they can then spend with their family:)

I love caller ID. If I don't recognize the number...I don't pick up. I also have an answering machine so they can leave a message. If I know the voice...I might pick up :).
