I think we've all been there. Our kids just push us a bit too far. I was in the market yesterday. A woman had a young girl, I'm going to guess the child was about 2. It was late afternoon. The girl was so whiny. The mom was losing it. She was just yelling and threatening this poor overtired 2 year old.

I've had two 2 year olds and I know that an overtired 2 year old is not fun to deal with. I just wonder if going to the store at 4pm with this tired child was a good idea??

I debated saying hi to the mom just to maybe help calm her a bit, but she too was so wound up I didn't want to make matters worse, so I said nothing.

Would you have said something?

No, I think I wouldn't have said anything either. She might have snapped at me because of her stressful situation.

I wouldn't have said anything. We don't know what her reason was to go grocery shopping at that time...there could be multiple reasons.

In this kind of instance that you mention Audrey - my approach is usually to catch the eyes of the Mom and let her know in a look that I've been there. Hopefully it gives her some strength to regain her patience without feeling totally judged and like a "bad Mom"...

I've actually felt really guilty in the past having to bring my kids out late grocery shopping with no alternative solutions...
