I'm thinking of placing a link on my site to "tell a friend". It would then take them to a form page where they'd fill out their email address and the email address of the friend they want to refer the site to. The script I found today for that also sends me an email every time someone uses that form and lets me know of the email addresses entered there.

Has anyone else put this on their site? If so, have you had much or any success from it?

Hi MindyL,
I've used a link like that several times on the Fox news site--when I see an article of special interest to one of my kids or friends I can e mail it to them. Fox (and msn too) gives me a place to add a brief note to whoever I'm sending the article too. That might make yours more personal too--like it's coming from the friend rather than from you.

Lots of luck!

I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing. I've used links like that in the past and figure if just a couple of people click on it that it would be worth it.

Yes, I think I might give this a try too....you never know who will click on the link.:yup:

Thanks for the replies...when I get some extra time to put that link together, I think I'm gonna go for it. You're right, cigood, that even if a few people use it, it's worth it :-)

I have the Refer-a-Friend feature on my website as well and I do get several visits on a monthly basis from those who have used this tool to share my site with someone else. I think it would be worth it to give it a try -- a free, effortless form of promotion.
